[John Evans] 9:16 pm: Started off the first week of break great, but after the holidays and my job started I didn't get much done ..

[John Evans] 9:18 pm: Matt, did you say someone supposed to mail me some?
[John Evans] 9:18 pm: Purdue still hasn't sent their dues
[Matt Cruce] 9:18 pm: well i thought north dakota state was goin to...they e-mailed me at the end of break pretty much ready to join...i've sent 3 follow up e-mails now and haven't heard back yet

[John Evans] 9:21 pm: The tax stuff is still in the beginning stages ...
[John Evans] 9:21 pm: I haven't been able to get a hold of the guy I mentioned before..
[Megha Sharma] 9:22 pm: are we still filing the forms or have they been sent to appropriate SEDS ppl for signatures and stuff?
[John Evans] 9:22 pm: The state of Mass. still hasn't processed our Annual Reports..
[John Evans] 9:22 pm: but at least they haven't cashed our check either
[John Evans] 9:22 pm: I'll call them tomorrow to find out what is going on
[John Evans] 9:23 pm: still finding out what forms need to be filed
[Megha Sharma] 9:23 pm: i thought there were the two u told me about?
[John Evans] 9:24 pm: yes, their are two forms
[John Evans] 9:24 pm: but, I need to find out what supporting documents we need
[John Evans] 9:25 pm: past receipts, copies of dues pad, donations, etc.
[Megha Sharma] 9:25 pm: so how long will it take before we are good with all the info we need in order to start filing the actual reports and sending the forms out to IRS?

[John Evans] 9:26 pm: hopefully it will be only 2-3 weeks now, since I have LOTS of time to devote to it

[Megha Sharma] 9:31 pm: is it possible to speed things up on our end...I am looking at may be by next week have all our docs ready to be sent to them, then they can take all the time theywant to since that is something we cant control

[Josh Nelson] 9:41 pm: National Project wise we are hopefully going fairly well, I am still going stir crazy with Kirk incomunicado in India...

[Josh Nelson] 9:41 pm: so I am emptying space in my e-mail box and praying
[Josh Nelson] 9:42 pm: Chapters doing projects definetly as far as I know: UA, UW,

[Todd Romberger] 9:43 pm: ucf is trying to throw something together, very last minuite though, so i make no guarantees

[Josh Nelson] 9:43 pm: telling them about the project and encouraging them to participate

[Josh Nelson] 9:43 pm: I am sitting in a computer lab right now making the structural drawings of our payload right now

We'll make a list of contacts to ask for funding, and start to nail down a procedure for how to ask, what to do after they respond, etc [mark] 10:00 pm: I can do that.

[Jennifer Kissinger] 10:03 pm: One of the things that Mark suggested was asking Alumni first. So, I don't know, is there a list of the best/highest up/most willing alumni that exists/could be made?

[Lindsay Newton] 10:27 pm: ok, i don't have anything new from last time, but i'll fill everyone in on what they've missed over the break (quick version)
[Lindsay Newton] 10:27 pm: we're trying to come up with a textbook to use with the new seds academy
[Lindsay Newton] 10:28 pm: we've talked about doing different ones, maybe one more math based and one more history based
[Lindsay Newton] 10:28 pm: also, we've discussed possibly doing this as an academy project (there would be a class devoted to working on writing the book)
[Lindsay Newton] 10:28 pm: so that's the big thing going on right now
[Emily Hardegree-Ullman] 10:28 pm: is that feasible (the class part)
[Lindsay Newton] 10:29 pm: sure... they wouldn't write a whole textbook, it would be an extended project

[Lindsay Newton] 10:30 pm: like the first time the class happens, they'll write up a section each or something, and each class after that will keep working on it until it's done

[Josh Nelson] 10:31 pm: if your looking for another idea, history of SEDS might be a good topics, gathering all the old documents possible and publishing them

[Matt Cruce] 10:36 pm: well i didn't meet my goals for break..i didn't have internet for almost 2 weeks when i got to Ohio but i will continue working on my contact list and hopefully have all major schools fill in by the end of January. University of Alambama Tuscaloosa has shown interest in joining SEDS and as I told John i still haven't heard back from North Dakota State, but I hope I will this week.

[Todd Romberger] 11:03 pm: I have gotten a few responses from the emails about conferences/events I sent out, the most solid one is from Caltech, they are interested in sending about 6ish people to ISDC, Return to the Moon, XCup, and AAS conference, mostly because they are all within driving distance.
[Todd Romberger] 11:03 pm: Funding from a the travel account did not seem critical, but would definetly help persuade them to go, as would the fact that other SEDS members are attending, but they would only need help with paying for gas and hotel, no airfare.
[Todd Romberger] 11:03 pm: Other than that me and one other dude from UCF are interested in going to XCup. Thats all the responses I have received.
