- waiting on things lying around Josh and Ryan’s offices so Director can put it together for the IRS
II. Director of Special Projects received six proposals for Zero-G project flights by the deadline
- SEDS-UW: Rayliegh Taylor flow in a zero gravity environment
- SEDS-Caltech: Time perception in Microgravity
- SEDS-UA: Collision of aggregate bodies with frost binding agent
- SEDS-MIT: Reduced Gravity Aerogel formation
- SEDS-UCF: Soldering in Zero-G
- SEDS-Illinois: Cerianthus Membranaceus and Geotropism, An Astrobiology Experiment.
- working to assemble a board to review the proposals
- waiting on Tim Bailey (primary contact for Zero-G) to look over the proposals
- because there are more people wanting seats than available, the board will mainly make sure the proposals are feasible and rank the chapters by priority for seats on the flight.
- Publicity issues
- some seats are reserved for the media – Wired magazine will be on board
- SEDS-UW has already submitted a press release
- the flight is the weekend immediately preceding Yuri’s Night
III. Director of Expansion updates on new chapter formations
- University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, Carleton U in Canada and University of Texas - Austin are in the process of joining
- Director has 65 contacts that he will be emailing tomorrow
- Director makes plea for contacts
- ask individual chapters to do expansion in their vicinity
- maybe make a chapter award exclusively for expansion at the next conference
IV. Discussion about sending a basic package to chapters to inform them of SEDS
- Director of Educational Outreach wants to send an outreach package
- SEDS history, video clips, chapter project descriptions
- if everyone could do a page about their area, secretary could put it together
- explains who we are, what we do, why we do it, opportunities to get involved
- different than chapter starter kit, cause most chapters don’t want to go through that whole thing
