[Josh Nelson] 9:13 pm: SEDS-UW: Rayliegh Taylor flow in a zero gravity environment
[Josh Nelson] 9:13 pm: SEDS-Caltech: Time perception in Microgravity
[Josh Nelson] 9:14 pm: SEDS-UA: Collision of aggregate bodies with frost binding agent
[Josh Nelson] 9:14 pm: SEDS-MIT: Reduced Gravity Aerogel formation
[Josh Nelson] 9:14 pm: SEDS-UCF: Soldering in Zero-G
[Josh Nelson] 9:14 pm: SEDS-Illinois: Cerianthus Membranaceus and Geotropism, An Astrobiology Experiment.
[Josh Nelson] 9:15 pm: Kirk and I are working to assemble a alumni/industry board to review the proposals, but as of right now it is looking promising for these chapters to fly
[Josh Nelson] 9:15 pm: I am waiting for Tim Bailey to finish preliminarily looking over the proposals before we identify the next critical deadline for the chapters.
[Josh Nelson] 9:16 pm: (Tim works for Zero-G and is our primary contact)
[Josh Nelson] 9:16 pm: Overall I am very pleased with the turnout. There are some excellent proposals here.
[Josh Nelson] 9:17 pm: We might even be able to do a little symposium at the next SEDS conference if all this research works out.

[Megha Sharma] 9:18 pm: other than money, there should be no other issue with them flying, rite?
[Josh Nelson] 9:19 pm: We have 27 seats on the plane, 2 of which Kirk and I are reserving for media
[Josh Nelson] 9:19 pm: right now I think the chapters have 26 members total wanting to fly
[Josh Nelson] 9:20 pm: and we might also want 1-2 seats for major sponsors
[Josh Nelson] 9:20 pm: so hence the need for the alumni board for selection of projects etc
[Josh Nelson] 9:21 pm: Kirk and I are confident we will be able to "flex" this to work
[Josh Nelson] 9:21 pm: also there are several members of SEDS who work for Zero-G
[Megha Sharma] 9:21 pm: would this selection process de-select one/more chapters from flying
[Josh Nelson] 9:22 pm: who might be able to fly jointly as members and crew
[Josh Nelson] 9:22 pm: right now the selection process will rank the chapters in order of preference of flight status.
[Josh Nelson] 9:23 pm: Kirk and I will chug the numbers this week and do everything we can to get all chapters flying
[Josh Nelson] 9:23 pm: I would much rather have 6 chapters flying than 5
[Kirk Kittell] 9:23 pm: I assume all chapters will fly
[Megha Sharma] 9:23 pm: I think we should let all chapters fly, irrespective just to boost up the morale for other chapters
[Kirk Kittell] 9:23 pm: will all members be able to fly? maybe, maybe not -- nothing is set in stone yet

[Todd Romberger] 9:24 pm: Yeah I would think that some of the chapters with alot of people may be flexible a person or two

[Matt Cruce] 9:31 pm: exciting week...University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, Carleton U in Canada and University of Texas - Austin are in the process of joining
[Matt Cruce] 9:32 pm: St. Louis U as John said sent their dues which was unexpected but i had e-mailed them in december about joining
[Matt Cruce] 9:33 pm: and I'm still working to compile contacts...i will send out an e-mail to the 65 schools I have contacts for tomorrow and keep working from there

[Josh Nelson] 9:33 pm: Are we going to be incorperating Carelton U into SEDS USA? or SEDS-Earth? Maybe since SEDS-Canada is having such a hard time staying on it's feet, should we think about becoming SEDS-North America?

[Todd Romberger] 10:36 pm: I got a call from UT Austin who are trying to start a chapter, they needed a letter for their student government saying that SEDS-USA officially recognizes them as starting a chapter, I didn’t know if something like that exists so I just wrote one and sent it, and gave their contact info to Matt.
[Todd Romberger] 10:36 pm: As for conferences/events, no new responses since last week. I’ll send something out this weekend listing the responses, so maybe that will give people a boost to respond.
