ISSS Meeting Minutes
October 10, 2000

Announcements:
The shirts are going to be $15 for those that wish to purchase them. A sign up sheet will go around during the first meeting. Attendees will vote on the slogan that will go on the shirt.
First meeting is tomorrow so get excited!

Revised Next Meeting Schedule:

Introduction of exec and agenda for the day

Introduction of ISSS past and the concept of restarting. Rick will give a speech about ISSS history.

Work on Mission Statement for ISSS/ ask people what they would like to get out of ISSS

$5 membership fee and $15 t-shirt fundraisers… explanation, sign-up, and vote on shirts

Next Meeting will be a trip to the Story County Conservation Center on October 14^th. We will meet in Howe Hall’s Lobby at 7:30 and drive over together. This is done through AAAA (Ames Area Amateur Astronomers)

Vote on a good time for future meetings

Explanation of committees and handout

Decide and breakup into committees. They need to choose a liason for exec as well as someone for to report for the newsletter.

Rest of time will be spent in committees eating and discussing future plans

Committees:
Each Committee will make a mission statement during their allotted time
Outreach (Michael):
President will be heavily involved with this committee
Idea of meeting with locals schools
Rocket building and presentations at schools
Brainstorm other volunteer activities
Membership (Kari):
Vice President will work with
In charge of dues – treasurer will also help with this
Recruitment of new members
Hangs up signs around campus
Evaluations
Activities (David):
Field Trips
Snacks?
Brainstorm future activities
Model Rocket competitions
For this, we should see if we can get a hobby store or distributor to donate these in exchange for advertisement of their company.
Showing of videos – perhaps the series “From the Earth to the Moon”
Alumni (Rick):
Will work with Rick Zrostlile and Dana Haugli
Assemble a list of alumni
Constitution (Natasha):
Responsible for the drafting and updating of ISSS’s constitution
