Announcements:
Jolesch Photography can be a possible fundraiser (up to $600). Contact for this is Adam at 1-800-833-6769, ext 0 or 1775. I (David) am in charge of setting this up.
Old Business:
Meeting on Wednesday, October 25, 2000
Reminder to pay the $5 membership dues. Checks will be made out to the Iowa State Space Society.
Need at least 5 more people to place an order for shirts if we are going to buy them this year. They cost $15 and checks will be made out to David Shoemaker.
We also will vote, discuss that slogan that we will put on it.
Agenda:
Welcome and reintroduction of members
Talk about alumni activities and its goals
Formulate a list of names
Contact alumni with letters and donation requests
Discussion of an alumni membership
Ask for a volunteer to work on the webpage and help David the secretary with the newsletters
Talk about the need for an e-council representative. This would be a good way to build status to be on exec when the next voting session comes around.
Work on Mission Statement.
Natasha is bringing a large paper pas to work out ideas.
Present what we have already come up with and then ask for words to make it sound less bureaucratic.
Announce plans for future meetings.
Discuss what people would like to do for future activities during this semester and next.
Watch the first episode of “From the Earth to the Moon”. Its entitled “Can we do this.” The food that Natasha and Kari brought will also be consumed during this time.
Meeting for November 8th
Dr. Lowery will be agle to attend and give some sort of speech. Natasha is the contact for this.
This meeting will try to be scheduled in room 3 physics hall.
Meetings will be the same style and dates as outlined on the previous minutes.
New Business:
Possibility of holding a celebration for the arrival of the first crew to the international space station, Expedition 1.
Thinking about taking a trip out to Dana’s farm for an ISSS retreat next semester. We will have food, movies and star gazing. We will see about trying to get a hold of a telescope.
Iowa Space Grant Consortium Conference on December 1st (Natasha would like to be the organizer of the after event)
- Bill Byrd would like ISSS to take a leading role in bring one of the speakers back names Gregory Bennet to speak with ISSS and AIAA. This could turn into a large function to promote ISSS.
- Exec and possibly other members will get the opportunity to have a paid trip down to Marshalltown for the day.
- Bill will be able to pay for any signs or advertisement of whatever event we decide to put on – possibly a dinner.

Things that need to get done:
David will call Howe call the morning of Oct. 25 to reserve room 142 for 7:00. If the room is available, e-mail ISSS members about the change in location for the meeting.
Natasha will need to pick up the VCR and projector from Dana’s office tomorrow.
David needs to contact Dana about the E-council contact.
