11/28/2005 ISSS Exec Minutes

We had a meeting tonight at 6:00 in the Howe basement. Here is what we discussed:

Tomorrow's Meeting: We decided that we have something to say after all, so there is a meeting tomorrow at 7:00 in 1227 Hoover. We're going to talk about the SpaceVision2005 trip and show pictures.

December 6 Meeting: The meeting will be December 6th at 6:00 in either Marston 205 or 206 or Hoover 1227. I will put the final location in the whole-club e-mail. We fineally decided on a movie...Galexy Quest! (and maybe Thumb Wars if I can find it because it's really funny and you should all see it). We'll order Pokey Sticks from Gumby's, pizza from Dominoes, and we'll have pop. We're going to vote for all exec positions at the Dec. 6th meeting, but in the future we might start electing the president and treasurer at the end of spring for the whole next year and everybody else during the fall.

SEDS: As far as we can tell GSB will continue to fund us if we're a chapter of SEDS. Next year's conference is in Florida; we didn't vote, but it worked out in our favor anyway :)

Future Activities/Possibilities: ISU has a 24-inch telescope and a planetarium that we could use sometime, which would be really cool because then some more people might want to join the club. We also talked about doing a really big project and getting funding from the Iowa Space Grant Consortium or the Carver Foundation. Ben is going to talk about the ISSS to the AAAA in January.

Aero 462: The Aero 462 group is going to use our launching equipment on Saturday when they test their rockoon.

Dues: Last year the ISSS had $5 dues each semester, so in order to raise the dues this year we're going to have $10 dues next semester too.
