2005 SEDS-USA Conference Planning Team Meeting July 11, 6pm, Za's Italian Cafe

ACTION SUMMARY:

• Contact one company each for Space Fair, add to the site above
• Look up media and university contact info, add to the site above

(1) Space Fair Lots of good action this week--13 companies contacted, see the site to see who has been contacted.

ACTION: Each person pick one new (not contacted yet) company. Contact them by next Monday. When you have contacted someone, notify the email list and post the information on the organizers site.

(2) Participant Recruiting Again, use the organizers web site to post contact information. This will require everyone's help, so familiarize yourself w/ the site. The final deadline for getting contact information for the big snail mailing is July 31.

Varun received access to the seds.org secure server, so the registration form will be up very soon

(3) Media Recruiting Again, use the organizers web site to post contact information. Our focus is on bringing in national media to the conference. Think of who *YOU* would like to cover the event, invite them, and keep us informed via the email list and the site. For instance, I really want the Discovery Channel to come. Others want CNN and NASA TV.

(4) Saturday night awards banquet We need a venue for this; Beckman, Grainger (Kirk), and Krannert (Jess) were discussed. The idea is to have a formal meal, a guest speaker (say Michael Griffin) give a presentation, and the hand out lots of awards and scholarships. Scholarship money could be raised from alumni, companies. Would need to put together a committee to read through applications for awards. Ideas for awards: chapter of year, new chapter of year, high school awards, leadership awards, awards for writing op-ed articles to newspapers. Continue discussion of possible awards at the web site.

(5) Crazy Ideas We discussed some random ideas
