- Current Websites: Nick has Spacealumni.com, Spacestudents.com, Spaceadvocacy.com, Spacecalendar.com, Spacevision.org and SEDS has spacefair.com. Nick wants spaceforum and spacechat but they are taken. (Full list on WIKI) SpaceGen_Merger#Domain_Names
- SGAC Elections: Will and Loretta met with Kevin Stube 8/16 to talk about SGAC-Vienna elections for a US representative and a Canadian rep and a Mexican Rep. ACTION: Loretta will review the document tonight and Kevin will send it out ASAP. ACTION: Will nominate everyone on this call (except me I have already been the NA rep)
- Database Issues: Kirk met with Nick and Nick met with Alex about the SEDS database- they are going to start working toward that soon. SEDS is working on rolling out a new website. WIKI is up Nick put up his suggestions for fields for the common database ACTION: EVERYONE- go onto the WIKI site and add your desired fields to the WIKI site
- ISU Scholarship: George was to send ISU Scholarship info. ACTION: George will do that now.
- Boeing Contacts: George and Nick were to coordinate about talking to people at Boeing about money. Carry ACTION: George and Nick from last telecon
- Youth Space Coordinator: Will, Nick and George all looked into asking people for 75K to hire someone to work at NSS on SpaceGen/SEDS stuff. They cooked up a proposal that they are looking to pass around pretty soon. ACTION: Will send around to all of us.
- Banking: Tim said that Washington Mutal has business accounts with no monthy fee and no minimum deposit. SGF account could be transferred there, but SGAC acct has a big book of fancy checks that it would be a shame to waste- then again at $12/month maybe the WaMU checks could pay for themselves…
- SGF/SGAC Finances: Loretta’s report- Deposited Finnerelli and Diamandis checks, thinking about closing or moving Space Gen Foundation account to save monthly fee. ACTION: Loretta will call bank tomorrow to check on waving of $12 monthly fee ACTION: Mark will call Loretta tomorrow at 4:30 pm to talk about setting up a student travel fund sub-account- Loretta just needs the name of the account.
- SGAC Elections: Loretta asked Lance Bush and Shane Kemper (SGAC-USA board) to support her nomination of Nick and Will to be officers 2 weeks ago- then on Monday said the deadline to respond was today. Shane replied saying that he felt that it was best to have By-laws in place before we create officers. Action: Will write up By-Laws first pass and then to forward them to Loretta and then to Nick to wrap up this weekend and use Shane’s email to set a fire under us.
- SEDS Paperwork: Mark sent SEDS paperwork to Jeff Foust for signature- but it got lost in the mail- ACTION: Mark will have to the paperwork recreated by Friday.
- Quest Challenges: Will- NASA Quest Challenges RFI, thanks for input. Official forms will list only X PRIZE and NSS as partners. SEDS and SpaceGen are listed as potential partners vs full fledged co-proposers.
- Logo Design: Will will work again on the Logo contest- Mark agreed to help. Tim pointed out that the Mars Homestead group just did one. ACTION: Will do logo stuff
- Travel Fund: Mark wanted to start a SEDS Travel Fund Sub-account for the SGAC-USA account. Tim asked if we can make it broader in scope. Josh said that the original intention was to have it broader and to have the SpaceGen merger people be the board to manage this. Kirk agreed that it was broader. Mark agreed that it was a good idea- he had just forgotten about it. Idea is for alumni/spacegen people to solicit charitable funds for student travel. ACTION: Mark will update the WIKi site to reflect this conversation.
- General Fundraising: Will P expressed a concern for coordinating all of our money requests (for travel fund, space spring break, full time staff member, SEDS conference etc.) We will just stay tagged up –keep each other abreast of who we are approaching, what they said ect. Will said that is ok, he want us to make sure all recipients of travel grants ect agree to write a thank you note as a condition of accepting. (like the Academy thank you notes). Josh said we still need a plan for a plan to raise money jointly. Tim and Nick will work on the joint fundraising pack. Will suggests a multi-tiered approach. ACTION: Tim and Nick will work design, ACTION: All add paragraphs on projects that require funding on WIKI SpaceGen_Merger#Projects_Needing_Sponsorship and make sure we get thank you notes out to our CURRENT donors. ACTION: Mark will write a thank you note to Peter and Richard for RTM travel fund donations.
- ISU Scholarship Review Panel: George asked who would be willing to be on the NSS/SEDS/SpaceGen ISU scholarship review panel. Nick, Will, and Josh all volunteered. (and Tim if he isn’t one of the applicants!)
