BZWingZero (8:01:36 PM): Thursday is turkey, how could it be bad?
littleC3788 (8:01:52 PM): sometimes my internet quits at home, so if I disappear, I'll try to quickly get back on
dandersonn43 (8:01:54 PM): I have randomly gotten a co-op interview at Hamilton-Sunstrand....
littleC3788 (8:02:02 PM): that's wonderful
dandersonn43 (8:02:12 PM): Oh, I'm on a weak wireless connection, so I might get dropped.
dandersonn43 (8:02:36 PM): Meh, I wasn't planning on it at all, and it's a HUGE commetment, 3 semesters/
lizeeb3 (8:02:45 PM): well we will reinvite you if that happens
dandersonn43 (8:02:51 PM): thanks.
littleC3788 (8:02:59 PM): ah...so r u taking the co-op?
dandersonn43 (8:03:07 PM): I have no idea.

littleC3788 (8:03:15 PM): when do u have to decide?
dandersonn43 (8:03:23 PM): Hey Dameon. The interview is tomorrow.
Jedi8798 (8:03:34 PM): NICE
Jedi8798 (8:03:34 PM): whoops caps lock
bennumber42 (8:03:41 PM) has entered the room.
dandersonn43 (8:03:43 PM): They want me to start January.
Viridis321 (8:03:44 PM): interview?
Viridis321 (8:03:53 PM): by the way, Hi Dan
dandersonn43 (8:04:00 PM): Hey Ben. For a co-op I just blundered into.
Viridis321 (8:04:11 PM): ah, ok good luck
bennumber42 (8:04:16 PM): Evening Danderson, all.
dandersonn43 (8:04:17 PM): Thanks.
Viridis321 (8:04:28 PM): good evening Ben and everyone
rramadas009 (8:04:35 PM): hi
dandersonn43 (8:05:27 PM): When will the details of the art contest be released? SEDS India seems pretty interested.
bennumber42 (8:05:54 PM): NSS announced a space art contest today, and it blows away our preparations. maybe see about working with them on it.
Jedi8798 (8:05:54 PM) has left the room.
peoplefrommars (8:05:57 PM) has entered the room.
dandersonn43 (8:06:20 PM): Really.

Jedi8798 (8:06:35 PM): sorry bout that. someone tripped on my cable
Jedi8798 (8:06:36 PM): lol
bennumber42 (8:06:44 PM): http://www.space.com/adastra/adastra_contest_061121.html
lizeeb3 (8:07:18 PM): Yes, before we begin, Ben has announcement/suggestion for us
rramadas009 (8:07:22 PM) has left the room.
dandersonn43 (8:07:23 PM): Thanks.
Jedi8798 (8:07:31 PM): Yeah Loretta e-mailed me an offer from George if we would like to do the SEDS competition in conjunction with the NSS one, but they mentioned that they would understand if we wanted to do it solo.
Viridis321 (8:07:59 PM): That sounds like a pretty good idea
bennumber42 (8:08:06 PM): That was point 1. Point 2 is the SEDS article on Wikipedia, I undeleted it and added a bit, as well as moving it to the long title. Make it good.
rramadas009 (8:08:19 PM) has entered the room.
BZWingZero (8:08:23 PM): brb, phone
Jedi8798 (8:08:47 PM): there are pluses and minuses to it, I was going to cover that in my report since thats under National Projets
bennumber42 (8:09:12 PM): Point three is this conference in Houston on 4-6 December. Probability is up that I may attend. Who else is, and is anyone working on a booth/handouts/etc.
Jedi8798 (8:09:32 PM): Brian Young is handling it I believe
lizeeb3 (8:09:43 PM): yes that is what i've heard as well
Jedi8798 (8:09:56 PM): he is the only person that was interested in doing it, so he is in charge of the SEDS presence
bennumber42 (8:10:13 PM): Ok. I'll talk to him about it.
BZWingZero (8:10:28 PM): Back,
Jedi8798 (8:10:34 PM): yeah if you guys need fliers/brochures, the old one is on the gallery
bennumber42 (8:11:06 PM): I know, I updated it. We need a booth background. A professional one.
rmmlg08 (8:11:07 PM): which conference is this
Jedi8798 (8:11:16 PM): SIAC
Jedi8798 (8:11:21 PM): I thnk
Jedi8798 (8:11:28 PM): that is the accronym
peoplefrommars (8:11:51 PM): whats the full title
Jedi8798 (8:12:04 PM): Ben?
bennumber42 (8:12:31 PM): SAIC. AIAA Space Exploration Conference.
lizeeb3 (8:17:43 PM) has entered the room.
peoplefrommars (8:17:43 PM) has entered the room.
BZWingZero (8:17:43 PM) has entered the room.

bennumber42 (8:17:43 PM) has entered the room.
Jedi8798 (8:17:43 PM) has entered the room.
littleC3788 (8:18:07 PM): ok..sorry i got disconnected
lizeeb3 (8:18:12 PM): Who wants to look into making a better disply and report back for the meeting next week?
lizeeb3 (8:18:24 PM): with some pricing estimates and ideas
Jedi8798 (8:18:29 PM): I'll do some more research in addition to what I did last year
Viridis321 (8:18:50 PM): ok. just let me know and I can try a few local contacts down here to see if they're interested in helping out with money
Jedi8798 (8:18:55 PM): I can get professional printng done here at the U for free
peoplefrommars (8:18:56 PM): q
lizeeb3 (8:19:01 PM): Great - that will be helpful
Jedi8798 (8:19:20 PM): so assume the printing costs are covered, just the development of material, and the display itself
lizeeb3 (8:19:51 PM): ok
lizeeb3 (8:20:25 PM): why don't you head up the process of getting the display and assign tasks on an as needed basis - would that work?
rmmlg08 (8:21:26 PM) has left the room.
Jedi8798 (8:21:41 PM): sure. So D, you'll look into funding it from your angle, I'll look up prices, Ben, would you like to help develop content?
rmmlg08 (8:21:51 PM) has entered the room.
bennumber42 (8:22:13 PM): I can certainly try. I make no claim to artistic ability.
Jedi8798 (8:22:24 PM): ditto
Jedi8798 (8:22:30 PM): but lets see what we can come up with
Jedi8798 (8:22:37 PM): back to you Liz
lizeeb3 (8:22:40 PM): Alright
lizeeb3 (8:22:48 PM): Let's move on to the goals
dandersonn43 (8:22:50 PM): Liz you don't think colin would be interested in helping?
lizeeb3 (8:23:26 PM): let's leave it to the guys on nationals for now - if they need more help, we can call on colin
dandersonn43 (8:23:33 PM): k
lizeeb3 (8:24:08 PM): Goals: obviously all the officers are going to have them - I want you to write them down, for the year, and send them to me by email for next week
lizeeb3 (8:24:24 PM): with an estimated time frame
lizeeb3 (8:24:46 PM): basically what you are planning to accomplish and how you will go about getting it done
lizeeb3 (8:25:18 PM): does this seem reasonable for next week?
littleC3788 (8:25:30 PM): yes
BZWingZero (8:25:34 PM): aye
dandersonn43 (8:25:36 PM): Yes
Jedi8798 (8:25:38 PM): easy with the break
Jedi8798 (8:25:39 PM): yes
Viridis321 (8:25:54 PM): you got it
rramadas009 (8:25:59 PM): definitely
lizeeb3 (8:26:18 PM): I found a template online that will make organizing the timing easier too
lizeeb3 (8:26:29 PM): I will forward it along with an email with a bit more detail
lizeeb3 (8:26:34 PM): awesome
lizeeb3 (8:26:57 PM): Now, I thought we should discuss the major goals of SEDS-Nationals as a whole tonight
lizeeb3 (8:27:11 PM): What should SEDS be about this year?
Viridis321 (8:27:25 PM): I have one thing to mention kind of going along the line of conferences again
lizeeb3 (8:27:31 PM): Ok
BZWingZero (8:27:37 PM): Reaching out and getting involved int the community. Get people to know who we are and what we stand for.
Viridis321 (8:27:56 PM): I've been speaking with Rick tumlinson and Will Watson about New Space 2007 in DC and having a SEDS track for the conference
Viridis321 (8:28:02 PM): here was a suggestion from Will
Viridis321 (8:28:34 PM): Part of the conference will focus on Space Education...which is where I see SEDS fitting in. Ideally we would bring strong SEDS advocates on this issue
Viridis321 (8:28:44 PM): gather the "Teachers in Space" Space Frontier Foundation Advocates (like Bill Boland and Jeff Krukin) and put them on panels with a few
Viridis321 (8:28:51 PM): big DC Hill names (Senators, Representatives, Staffers) that would be interested in talking on this subject.
Viridis321 (8:29:07 PM): sorry it's all broken up, but that was his suggestion and I said I'd bring it up at the board meeting
rmmlg08 (8:29:59 PM): that sounds like a cool idea if we can put it together
Viridis321 (8:30:00 PM): any thoughts on this
Jedi8798 (8:30:17 PM): would be nice, how many people can we GET to this conference?
Viridis321 (8:30:25 PM): I wrote back to him to see if he thought of a discussion session maybe, to make it more interactive
dandersonn43 (8:30:41 PM): When is it?
Jedi8798 (8:30:43 PM): it would definetly be great to get a SEDS track going if we can get a large number of people there
Viridis321 (8:30:52 PM): Rick mentioned something about possibly getting SEDS members who help out places to sleep, cover registration costs etc.
rmmlg08 (8:31:02 PM): july 18-21
Viridis321 (8:31:02 PM): I think it's in May, I'll have to ask to be sure and i'll get back on that
Viridis321 (8:31:11 PM): oops...there ya go
rmmlg08 (8:31:18 PM): they've merged it with return to the moon
Viridis321 (8:31:45 PM): if it's something everyone might be interested in, I can keep working on them with that
Jedi8798 (8:31:58 PM): depending where in the country I am, I would definetly like to go
Jedi8798 (8:32:06 PM): sounds like it has alot of potential
Viridis321 (8:32:10 PM): any ideas as far as getting SEDS involved with this?
lizeeb3 (8:32:37 PM): the display would be useful lol
Viridis321 (8:32:40 PM): other than the Space Education
Viridis321 (8:32:50 PM): lol...by then we should have one
Jedi8798 (8:32:59 PM): discussions / workshops with these leaders would be good
Jedi8798 (8:33:16 PM): and specific talks on how students can use our power as students
Viridis321 (8:34:23 PM): ok, I'll mention that to him
Jedi8798 (8:34:40 PM): Liz, since its in DC, do ya think we might be able to get some Space Politics talks?
Viridis321 (8:35:06 PM): do we want to try to have any SEDS Exec board meetings there? I know some people from the AAS were interested in working with us as well for their conferences and mentioned E-board meetings
Jedi8798 (8:35:23 PM): would be nice, depends on how many members we can get to it
lizeeb3 (8:35:29 PM): perhaps if we have enough members therre
Viridis321 (8:35:36 PM): ok, I'll ask him about that as a possiblity too
dandersonn43 (8:36:03 PM) has left the room.
lizeeb3 (8:36:11 PM): Ok, let's move back to the goals for this year
lizeeb3 (8:36:59 PM): The purpose is to direct our ideas in a similar direction so they compliment each other as we form our own individual goals as officers
Nyeerrmm (8:37:39 PM) has entered the room.
lizeeb3 (8:38:11 PM): One thought I had is to make SEDS a more recognized name within the space industry
Viridis321 (8:38:21 PM): I like that
BZWingZero (8:38:21 PM): I was thinking the same thing
Jedi8798 (8:39:22 PM): Getting the SEDS name out there is all well and fine, but we should actually have something to show for it. SEDS as an organization doesnt DO much right now
Viridis321 (8:39:54 PM): so how do we get it so we can do more?
Nyeerrmm (8:40:06 PM): i'd say individual chapters do a lot, and i think we can advertise that
BZWingZero (8:40:10 PM): We need to get a national project off the ground (literally or figuratively) so we can say "We did this, can you help us do This [biger thing]"
bennumber42 (8:40:30 PM): Existing is more of an accomplishment than you might think. Just getting it to the point where you don't have to explain what SEDS is every time you try to get support will make it easier to do things.
rmmlg08 (8:40:39 PM): in my next revamp of the website, I'm going to try to emphasize what individual chapters are doing
lizeeb3 (8:40:42 PM): we all need to work on national projects
BZWingZero (8:40:51 PM): Some sort of competition
rmmlg08 (8:40:53 PM): and show the things more clearly that we are working on the national level
Jedi8798 (8:40:57 PM): there are national level projects that arent necessarly national projects
Jedi8798 (8:41:03 PM): yeah
Jedi8798 (8:41:34 PM): for those of you who were at the National Projects meeting, we came up wth a bunch of good ideas, alot of which were decided were better things for different board members to cover
lizeeb3 (8:41:55 PM): yes
lizeeb3 (8:42:09 PM): we need to have multiple projects going at the same time
Jedi8798 (8:42:38 PM): which starts witht he fundraising proposals I will be writing/sending out this weekend
lizeeb3 (8:42:44 PM): please start thinking about what you will be working on this year - please also include it in your goals
peoplefrommars (8:43:26 PM) has left the room.
lizeeb3 (8:43:48 PM): but let's come up with more overriding goals
lizeeb3 (8:44:40 PM): what is something we should all keep in mind while working this year? what overriding goals should we have framed above our beds?
Viridis321 (8:45:10 PM): I think chapter communication is a big thing and would probably help get the SEDS name out there as well
Jedi8798 (8:45:26 PM): Getting SEDS members involved and working with professionals in the space industry
BZWingZero (8:45:56 PM): we also need to become a registered Nonprofit... might make getting funding a little easier (If natnl gets it, all the chapters get it too)
lizeeb3 (8:45:58 PM): thats good
Viridis321 (8:46:13 PM): we're working on that at UCF right now...5013C is what it's called
Jedi8798 (8:46:18 PM): yup
Nyeerrmm (8:46:56 PM): i think as far as chapter communications go, requiring at least one phone number for a chapter would be helpful
Jedi8798 (8:47:51 PM): do we have an update on 501? Megha mentioned she was going to call John and ask
lizeeb3 (8:48:44 PM): I will email John
lizeeb3 (8:49:56 PM): anything else?
bennumber42 (8:50:19 PM): history and alumni, as always.
Jedi8798 (8:50:35 PM): Yeah Emily is still interested in heading up the History project
dandersonn43 (8:51:18 PM) has entered the room.
lizeeb3 (8:51:27 PM): Yes, please everyone respond to her email
dandersonn43 (8:51:38 PM): Who's email?
rramadas009 (8:51:51 PM): the one she sent out?
Jedi8798 (8:51:55 PM): yup
rmmlg08 (8:51:56 PM): emily sent out an emaul a few hours ago
dandersonn43 (8:51:56 PM): emily
rramadas009 (8:51:59 PM): okay
BZWingZero (8:52:24 PM): What is this history project. I don't know anything about it. I did get the email, but without a little background I don't know what to do about it.
Jedi8798 (8:54:35 PM): (did I freeze?)
Viridis321 (8:54:39 PM): nope
BZWingZero (8:54:40 PM): no
dandersonn43 (8:54:40 PM): No
Jedi8798 (8:54:44 PM): ah k
Viridis321 (8:54:46 PM): lol
lizeeb3 (8:54:48 PM): basically it is the documentation of the history of SEDS
BZWingZero (8:54:50 PM): it's just really quiet
Jedi8798 (8:55:04 PM): (guys I am going afk for about 5-10 minutes)
dandersonn43 (8:55:04 PM): I think she wants all contact info we might have of the founding members
lizeeb3 (8:55:08 PM): old minutes, photos, antedotes etc.
dandersonn43 (8:55:27 PM): or any members who might know something.
dandersonn43 (8:55:41 PM): Of SEDS past at least.
rramadas009 (8:56:23 PM): what's it to be used for?
bennumber42 (8:56:49 PM): Ever taken a history class?
dandersonn43 (8:56:50 PM): The history project or the info?
lizeeb3 (8:58:08 PM): to solidify our past
lizeeb3 (8:58:21 PM): it can be used as a reference
lizeeb3 (8:58:41 PM): it will help connect the generations of SEDS members
lizeeb3 (9:00:06 PM): Moving on
lizeeb3 (9:00:23 PM): any other goals for the exec board as a whole or announcements?
Viridis321 (9:00:52 PM): I have something...not sure if this is the time for it, but hey
Viridis321 (9:01:03 PM): peter and his challenge to raise the $10,000
Viridis321 (9:01:17 PM): I told him we look forward to accepting his challenge and here's what he had to say in return
Viridis321 (9:01:26 PM): Its important that the group create a compelling vision of WHY you need the money and what you’re going to do with it.
Viridis321 (9:01:51 PM): any thoughts
bennumber42 (9:02:17 PM): I think that sounds like Peter.
Viridis321 (9:02:20 PM): lol
dandersonn43 (9:02:31 PM): So we can get the word out to lots of young pliable minds?
Viridis321 (9:02:41 PM): is this something we want to pursue?
BZWingZero (9:03:04 PM): And rise towards the commercial overthrow of space
lizeeb3 (9:03:22 PM): Definitely and it ties in with the fundraising plan Josh is drafting
Viridis321 (9:03:54 PM): will that include what we're fundraising for?
lizeeb3 (9:04:41 PM): Yes that is the purpose of it
Viridis321 (9:04:45 PM): ok cool
lizeeb3 (9:05:45 PM): other announcements for the meeting tonight?
Nyeerrmm (9:05:50 PM): i have one thing: SEC conference is under control... they'll have some nice art set up at the booth, we just provide the content
dandersonn43 (9:06:05 PM): hey Brian
dandersonn43 (9:06:22 PM): That is good.
Nyeerrmm (9:06:26 PM): and at this point i'm planning on me and a couple of others being there for a day and a half of it, just because of other obligations
Nyeerrmm (9:06:31 PM): but its under control
Nyeerrmm (9:06:58 PM): just thought id mention it
lizeeb3 (9:07:10 PM): cool
lizeeb3 (9:07:38 PM): last chance to speak...
lizeeb3 (9:08:08 PM): if not the meeting is over
lizeeb3 (9:08:26 PM): everyone have a great thanksgiving!
BZWingZero (9:08:31 PM): You too
dandersonn43 (9:08:36 PM): Gobble Gobble
littleC3788 (9:08:37 PM): u 2
lizeeb3 (9:08:42 PM): be thankful for space lol!
Viridis321 (9:08:52 PM): you too
dandersonn43 (9:08:52 PM): Stuff yourselves, but not too much.
BZWingZero (9:09:00 PM): Why not too much?
BZWingZero (9:09:06 PM): Isn't that the point?
dandersonn43 (9:09:14 PM): Ok
dandersonn43 (9:09:19 PM): Too much is good too.
Nyeerrmm (9:10:01 PM): travel safe everyone
Nyeerrmm (9:10:05 PM) has left the room.
littleC3788 (9:10:06 PM): bye everyone...enjoy the rest of the break
dandersonn43 (9:10:09 PM): Night
BZWingZero (9:10:14 PM): Gnight
dandersonn43 (9:10:15 PM) has left the room.
