[18:09] You: yeah sure [18:09] You: (sorry doing like 5 things at once) [18:10] You: I talked to the organizers and we will just be doing a exhibit in the display area [18:10] You: considering that the presentation wasnt coming along well (at all) and Liz couldnt make it, so a panel of 2 is kinda stupid [18:10] Flight Band: All Go [18:10] RolandBolser Voom is Online [18:11] Eleven Vella: ok [18:11] Eleven Vella: cool - yeah I'm sorry I can't make it - no access to SL at work [18:12] You: No prob Liz [18:12] Eleven Vella: I had 2 things for tonight [18:12] You: I'll be digging through a storage unit with XPRIZE people anyway [18:12] You: ;-) [18:12] Eleven Vella: Ok great [18:13] Eleven Vella: ALirhgt, so Kirk sent out an email a while ago [18:13] Eleven Vella: saying we have 500 dollars to give to someone who can attend the SEDS-Earth conference in India [18:13] You: from SEDS USA? [18:13] Eleven Vella: Are any of you planning/or want to go? [18:13] You: hmmm [18:13] You: just for the SEDS-Earth conference? [18:14] Carissa Lisle is Online [18:14] Eleven Vella: as an incentive to get someone from seds-usa to india [18:14] You: I might be able to swing it [18:14] You: if no one else is interested [18:14] Ryanblah Qinan: would love to, but think will be a bit hosed then [18:14] Eleven Vella: anyone else? [18:18] Eleven Vella: Ok moving on [18:18] Eleven Vella: We have set up 4 interviews for They Were There [18:18] Eleven Vella: and I am hoping there will be more inetrest in the fall [18:19] Eleven Vella: but I am continuing to contact people who should be interviewed [18:19] Eleven Vella: that was just an FYI [18:19] Ryanblah Qinan: we could maybe put something about it at the conference [18:20] Eleven Vella: comments/suggestions for me about TWT or the SEDS_earth money? [18:20] Ryanblah Qinan: like a list of current projects in the reg packet [18:20] Eleven Vella: ok... [18:23] Eleven Vella: ok [18:23] Eleven Vella: Ryan, can you update us on the luncheon? How is it going? [18:23] Oggie Ballinger is Online [18:24] Ryanblah Qinan: well, I've gotten two responses back from you guys [18:24] Ryanblah Qinan: thank you liz and jake [18:24] Ryanblah Qinan: I need to get some more, then I can get an estimate from john as to how much $$ we need [18:24] Ryanblah Qinan: to raise [18:25] You: I'll draw you up an estimate tonight Ryan [18:25] You: sorry for the delay [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: after I have a list of what we want to spend the money on, I'm going to draft a proposal [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: and send it to peter [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: for his review [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: and to you guys [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: then we can do a press release with that or something like that [18:25] Roger Amdahl: hello everybody [18:25] Eleven Vella: good [18:26] Ryanblah Qinan: kirk is helping me getting lists of alums/etc [18:26] Ryanblah Qinan: in an attempt to get as many people with purse strings to come to the luncheon [18:27] Ryanblah Qinan: my idea of the luncheon isn't to get money there necessarily [18:27] Ryanblah Qinan: but to inspire alums/etc [18:27] Ryanblah Qinan: *alums/companies/etc [18:27] Ryanblah Qinan: we hope to also get more people there by adding a second purpose to the baquet [18:27] Eleven Vella: guys, please respond to Ryan as soon as you can [18:28] Ryanblah Qinan: and calling it partly an alumni reunion dinner in addition to the usual seds get-together [18:28] Ryanblah Qinan: that's about it [18:28] Eleven Vella: I like it [18:28] Ryanblah Qinan: so if the rest of you can get me details [18:29] Ryanblah Qinan: as to what money you think your dept or seds exec in general would want [18:29] Ryanblah Qinan: want=need [18:29] Ryanblah Qinan: on a yearly basis [18:29] Ryanblah Qinan: the more detailed a report I can put together [18:29] Ryanblah Qinan: the more money we can milk [18:30] Ryanblah Qinan: (Kirk seems rather optomiztic about this) [18:30] Eleven Vella: hmm well thats good [18:30] Eleven Vella: optimism that is [18:30] Eleven Vella: Questions for Ryan? Also there will be a second page detailing seds and why they should sponsor us [18:33] danderson Beck: oh, do we have much info on the entire body of members? [18:33] You: I took some surveys a few years ago [18:33] danderson Beck: how many, what majors they are, grad/undergrad [18:33] You: about what the composition of SEDS was [18:33] You: yeah [18:33] You: its a little dated but I can get you the info [18:34] You: send me an e-mail to remind me [18:34] danderson Beck: Thanks that would be great. [18:36] danderson Beck: I was thinking maybe we make a special effort to make them known to our members [18:36] danderson Beck: some kind of detail on seds.org maybe [18:37] danderson Beck: I was hoping we can get local chapters to help out, hosting info secessions [18:37] Eleven Vella: thats a good idea [18:37] Eleven Vella: good for companies recruitung [18:38] Eleven Vella: questions for danderson? Counsel of Science editors?
