Invitation result for buddy Nyeerrmm : Invite or request timed out

lizeeb3 (8:05:16 PM): anyway I guess we can get started
lizeeb3 (8:05:44 PM): First of all, next week there will not be a meeting
lizeeb3 (8:06:03 PM): People have mentioned that they will be out of town and I figured we could use a week off
lizeeb3 (8:06:29 PM): No one sent any items for the agenda, so is there anything in particular you would like to discuss?
Viridis321 (8:06:56 PM): since I've been slacking so much...what is it that I should/need to catch up on?
Viridis321 (8:07:07 PM): as far as what you guys/girls would like to see from me
dandersonn43 (8:07:11 PM) has entered the room.
lizeeb3 (8:08:18 PM): well, last year around this time megha had me start helping with expansion
lizeeb3 (8:08:30 PM): and it really helped a lot to have two people doing it in the spring
Viridis321 (8:08:54 PM): as far as starting new chapters, or just getting the name out there or both?
lizeeb3 (8:09:11 PM): well mainly starting new chapters
lizeeb3 (8:09:21 PM): since we haven't had any new ones this year yet
Viridis321 (8:09:31 PM): ok...I think our prez had an idea for a new chapter, but I don't remember who it was he was working with
lizeeb3 (8:10:02 PM): like, what matt and I did was send a bunch of emails to space organizations that already exist at different schools
Viridis321 (8:10:23 PM): did you ever try related organizations like AIAA?
lizeeb3 (8:10:33 PM): yeah that is a good one
lizeeb3 (8:10:57 PM): if a school has an aiaa branch, there might be interest for a more *progressive* group, like SEDS
rmmlg08 (8:10:59 PM): especially with schools that are hosting regional conferences
rmmlg08 (8:11:11 PM): which are coming up
Viridis321 (8:11:28 PM): good point
lizeeb3 (8:12:03 PM): and if you actually address it to a specific person, they are much more likely to respond or forward it
lizeeb3 (8:12:13 PM): that was exactly how the penn state chapter was formed
Viridis321 (8:12:34 PM): ok, I can start looking at some of the schools and work on that
RolandBolser (8:12:41 PM): uh
lizeeb3 (8:12:57 PM): do you think that is a feasible thing to do...email some schools by the end of March?
Viridis321 (8:13:06 PM): yep yep
lizeeb3 (8:13:15 PM): Jake and Damion, can you try to work together on this?
RolandBolser (8:13:27 PM): sure
Viridis321 (8:13:32 PM): yeah
RolandBolser (8:13:47 PM): I'll just have to send you a copy of the schools I've hit to avoid overlap
peoplefrommars (8:13:54 PM) has entered the room.
Viridis321 (8:13:58 PM): ok
lizeeb3 (8:14:08 PM): That is a good idea
rramadas009 (8:14:08 PM) has entered the room.
Viridis321 (8:14:17 PM): I'll start out with the florida schools and then work my way out of the state
lizeeb3 (8:14:17 PM): about how many schools have you contacted so far?
RolandBolser (8:14:24 PM): okay
RolandBolser (8:14:25 PM): if you could
RolandBolser (8:14:35 PM): look at the AIAA conference midatlantic region
RolandBolser (8:14:45 PM): and try to get some of them
Viridis321 (8:14:55 PM): will do
RolandBolser (8:15:09 PM): It looked like we would definitely have a presense there but only one school in that district has a real contact
Viridis321 (8:15:39 PM): well hopefully we can change that
RolandBolser (8:15:56 PM): good
lizeeb3 (8:16:23 PM): about how many schools have been contacted so far?
RolandBolser (8:17:26 PM): this year, more than thirty
lizeeb3 (8:17:39 PM): ok great
lizeeb3 (8:18:12 PM): any other comments for expansion?
RolandBolser (8:18:22 PM): yeah
lizeeb3 (8:18:36 PM): go ahead
RolandBolser (8:18:42 PM): do whta ben brockett did with yuri's night
Viridis321 (8:18:49 PM): ??
RolandBolser (8:18:50 PM): go into clubs and organizations online
RolandBolser (8:18:57 PM): and try to talk to people for a while
RolandBolser (8:19:08 PM): there is some merit in the random email
RolandBolser (8:19:28 PM): but talking to them for a while increases the chance of them trying to start a chaptre by at keast three times
RolandBolser (8:19:40 PM): that's whya I'm trying now
Viridis321 (8:19:57 PM): good idea
lizeeb3 (8:21:02 PM): awesome. thanks for the update. I am glad you are really on top of it.
lizeeb3 (8:22:56 PM): other thoughts on expansion or things to discuss in general?
RolandBolser (8:23:19 PM): uh small side question
RolandBolser (8:23:27 PM): what kind of presence are we trying to put up at the ISDC
lizeeb3 (8:24:13 PM): Brian was putting together our display
rramadas009 (8:24:25 PM) has left the room.
lizeeb3 (8:24:28 PM): I don't know if we were going to have anything aside from the table though
RolandBolser (8:25:12 PM): I mean
RolandBolser (8:25:14 PM): like people
RolandBolser (8:25:18 PM): numbers
RolandBolser (8:26:16 PM): nvrmind
lizeeb3 (8:26:20 PM): well Josh and I are planning on attending
rmmlg08 (8:26:48 PM): if I can make things work, I'd like too, but that us still uncertain
lizeeb3 (8:26:50 PM): We'll send out an email to our lists soon
lizeeb3 (8:27:31 PM): is anyone else who is here planning on going to ISDC?
lizeeb3 (8:28:20 PM): alright i guess not
lizeeb3 (8:28:38 PM): other questions or updates?
rramadas009 (8:29:34 PM) has entered the room.
lizeeb3 (8:31:09 PM): last chance...before I end the meeting
lizeeb3 (8:32:18 PM): alright then that is it
lizeeb3 (8:32:25 PM): talk to you all in 2 weeks
lizeeb3 (8:32:31 PM): enjoy your breaks!
