(21:10:28) *Me:* I have one thing (21:10:33) *Elizabeth Bozek:* ok cool (21:10:38) *Me:* so at the last meeting (21:10:53) *Me:* or whatever we want to call it (since apparently we weren't supposed to have one) (21:11:04) *Me:* I brought up the NewSpace Conference (21:11:16) *Me:* and we came up with some speakers to recommend to the person who had contacted me (21:11:28) *Me:* and several of you said you were interested in going to the conference (21:11:44) *Me:* then I emailed the list asking who had experessed interest to email me (21:11:49) *Me:* and I got no responses (21:11:56) *James Welch:* okay (21:12:04) *James Welch:* that's two emails I haven't gotten (21:12:32) *Me:* (I dont' remember who said they were interested, but if you guys could let me know now if you are interested) (21:12:44) *Me:* James, I will check to see fi you are on teh list in a sec (21:14:07) *Me:* jeez, there's a lot of people on sedsexec list (21:15:10) *Me:* ok, so james was interested, not sure if anyone else said so (21:15:21) *Me:* (and I'm working with him on the side about email problems) (21:15:26) *Me:* so I think my msytery is solved (21:15:34) *Elizabeth Bozek:* ok (21:15:37) *rramadas009 entered the room.* (21:15:47) *Elizabeth Bozek:* how many people are on the exec list? (21:15:54) *Me:* 42 (21:15:57) *Elizabeth Bozek:* whoa (21:16:06) *Elizabeth Bozek:* perhaps we should edit it a bit (21:16:13) *Me:* (including a number of people I don't even recognize) (21:16:16) *Me:* I agree (21:17:11) *Elizabeth Bozek:* yeah, if we don't know who they are and they haven't been on the board recently there is no reason for them to get the emails (21:18:47) *Elizabeth Bozek:* alright that is settled (21:19:03) *lizeeb3 left the room.* (21:21:10) *Nyeerrmm entered the room.* (21:21:25) *Brian Young:* sorry I'm late, I'm at work and its a busy night (21:23:07) *Me:* can someone else try inviting liz back in (21:23:37) *Me:* (let me know when you do) (21:23:56) *Brian Zollman:* I just tried (use trillian not AIM, not sure if ti will work) (21:24:01) *Damion Lucas:* I tried as well (21:24:03) *Daniel Anderson:* Not working, also trillian (21:24:10) *John Evans:* I tried (21:25:27) *James Welch:* okay, new chat (21:25:50) *Me:* liz is starting anew one (21:25:57) *Brian Zollman:* leave this one? (21:26:11) *Me:* hold on a sec (21:26:16) *Me:* until we get the new one up (21:28:09) *Me:* that doesn't seem to be working (21:28:18) *Me:* I'm chekcing now to see if spacealumni chat is up (21:29:08) *rramadas009 left the room.* (21:30:20) *Me:* ok, looks like I'm going to continue the meeting (21:30:31) *Me:* since liz can't get on and spacealumni not acting very nicely (21:31:42) *Me:* so we'll just go through and do this like I normally run updates, but this time comprehensive of the past half year (21:31:59) *Me:* as liz said in her email (21:32:31) *Me:* so, let's start with Brian (Zollman) (21:33:18) *Brian Zollman:* Well, There has been a new edition of the NOVA each month. This is an increase over previous years when the NOVA was quarterly. (21:33:31) *Brian Zollman:* A new edition is due this weekend. (21:33:46) *SithLrdJohn left the room.* (21:34:04) *Brian Zollman:* Also, the press release that was requested was created. If you would like one created, just ask. Turn around time shoudl be 2-3 days. (21:35:29) *Me:* ok, anything else, or questions for brian? (21:36:09) *Me:* ok, dan: (21:37:14) *Daniel Anderson:* You care if I take stuff out of the nova about what the individual chapters are doing? Been putting together updates for a seds USA blog for other SEDS chapters. A new one should be out soon. (21:37:36) *Brian Zollman:* I don't mind at all. (21:38:04) *Daniel Anderson:* Also been doing some stuff about fundraising, although that has been on and off admitedly (21:39:35) *Daniel Anderson:* Oh yes, and if anyone needs help dealing with people outside of seds, feel free to ask me. (21:39:45) *Me:* anything else or problems? (21:40:39) *Me:* or questions? (21:41:21) *Me:* one general thing (not directed directly at you dan) but have you guys been following your Gantt charts (21:41:35) *Brian Zollman:* I have. (21:41:50) *James Welch:* trying (21:42:07) *Carissa Walker:* somewhat (21:42:45) *Me:* (if you've been having trouble with them, feel free to expound upon that in your report) (21:42:54) *Me:* so, Carissa, you're next: (21:42:57) *Daniel Anderson:* No, not really. (21:43:07) *Me:* any particular reason? (21:44:02) *Daniel Anderson:* I have completely let the lot of you down. So I've been a bum (21:45:02) *littleC3788 left the room.* (21:45:21) *Me:* while she's out, let's move to other Brian (21:45:49) *littleC3788 entered the room.* (21:45:53) *littleC3788 left the room.* (21:47:58) *Me:* ok, I'm going to echo what Carissa tells me then (21:48:00) *Unable to send message. The message is too large.* (21:48:09) *Me:* I have been posting the transcripts, and I have been trying, as of this semester, to post the transcripts right after the meetings. (21:48:10) *Me:* This way, if someone missed it, they will have right away instead of constantly wondering if it will be posted. (21:48:41) *Me:* questions, comments for her? (21:49:06) *Me:* ok, brian young (21:49:07) *Me:* : (21:49:55) *Me:* well, he seems to have an away message up (21:50:05) *Me:* so for now let's move on to James (21:50:41) *James Welch:* okay (21:50:48) *James Welch:* this is year total, right? (21:50:53) *Me:* correct (21:51:15) *James Welch:* I've been contacting anyone I can who might be interested in our organization (21:51:36) *James Welch:* Professors, Yahoo Groups, Student Groups, people who have won awards for things (21:52:01) *James Welch:* I'm also trying to get some of my friends to put up flyers on their websites for wow and related things (21:52:05) *James Welch:* but you know how friends are (21:52:26) *James Welch:* I have had some success with this advertising in getting people to respond (21:52:46) *James Welch:* and I have had ball park twenty people contact me this semester about starting groups (21:53:07) *James Welch:* for the rest of the year, I plan to continue to target student groups rather than related people (21:53:18) *James Welch:* and to aim for high shcool students iwth an interest in the subject (21:53:25) *James Welch:* fin (21:53:32) *Me:* so how have those 20 people who have contacted you gone (21:53:46) *James Welch:* for hte most part (21:53:52) *James Welch:* I send them everything htey need to know (21:54:02) *James Welch:* 50 % respond back with a "hEy, thanks" (21:54:05) *James Welch:* 50 % don't (21:54:12) *James Welch:* and then I never hear from any of them again (21:54:15) *James Welch:* then I check up (21:54:24) *James Welch:* and not much happens (21:54:29) *James Welch:* but I htink (21:54:31) *James Welch:* a lot of thes (21:54:31) *James Welch:* e (21:54:42) *James Welch:* guys have started groups that just aren't nationally active (21:54:56) *James Welch:* b/c they seem really excited about it (21:55:14) *James Welch:* so they may just be using our name as a colorful umbrella to draw people in (21:55:48) *James Welch:* the end (21:56:22) *Me:* cool, questions? (21:56:58) *Me:* Damion? (21:57:15) *Damion Lucas:* I've pretty much been a failure this semester... (21:57:27) *Damion Lucas:* I've held the CoC meetings, posted the transcripts and only requested one update (21:57:48) *Damion Lucas:* however, once this semester is over I plan to play catch up big time and update all of the contact lists for the chapters (21:58:16) *Damion Lucas:* as well as help James with chapter expansion, and get another set of updates...as well as keep up with your chapter updates (21:58:16) *Me:* ok, ?s for damion? (21:59:38) *Me:* here's Johs's update: (21:59:39) *Unable to send message. The message is too large.* (21:59:47) *Unable to send message. The message is too large.* (21:59:54) *Me:* Josh says there are no new funding responses (21:59:59) *Unable to send message. The message is too large.* (22:00:09) *Me:* and Frank Taylor has e-mailed me recently about an (22:00:14) *Me:* opportunity he gave us during Space Vision, and some (22:00:19) *Me:* people were enthused about, but never implemented. (22:00:38) *James Welch:* what awas it? (22:00:42) *Me:* [the latter referring to the google ads, which we will now bring back up again with Frank Taylor] (22:00:58) *Me:* (he mentioned it to us at SV06 (22:01:53) *Me:* which we will actually discuss quickl in a sec (22:01:58) *Me:* so my update: (22:02:41) *Me:* 1.) I've been playing around with teh alumni database, increasing size and depth and trying to add more functions (22:03:04) *Me:* 2.) integrating the Board of Advisors and Board of Alumni and figuring out how to use them (22:03:20) *Me:* (they have been rather useful for the conference, so I encourage you guys to use them too) (22:03:44) *Me:* 3.) get people to attend conferences (so I have been sending out emails to that regard) (22:04:10) *Me:* 4.) various website revamps to make it nicer to read and added pages for new things that are going on (22:04:26) *Me:* -end of report- (22:04:29) *Me:* ?s (22:04:55) *Me:* so back to the google ads thing (22:05:06) *Me:* does anyone not know what I'm talking about (22:05:28) *Brian Zollman:* I don't (22:05:39) *Me:* ok, so here's teh deal (22:06:02) *Me:* I'm going to assume everyone know what google ads are, so will start there (22:06:15) *Me:* basically, Frank Taylor approached us (22:06:24) *Me:* seeing if we are interestd in having those placed on seds.orgf (22:06:29) *Me:* to get some additional funding (22:06:43) *Brian Zollman:* Interesting idea. (22:06:44) *Me:* (which should be viable since we get quite a bit of traffic thoguh seds.org) (22:07:01) *Me:* however somewhere along the line one of us dropped the ball (22:07:15) *Me:* but, we are about to pick it up agai (22:07:19) *Me:* but before doing so (22:07:31) *Me:* want to make sure that everyone is still ok with going forward with this (22:07:39) *James Welch:* do we lose (22:07:42) *Me:* +: we get 'free money' (22:07:46) *James Welch:* tax free status? (22:07:51) *Me:* -: we somewhat commercialize ourselves (22:07:59) *Me:* this shouldn't hurt tax free status (22:08:04) *James Welch:* and don't we have to ugly up our website? (22:08:18) *Me:* they are supposedly relatively unobtrusive (22:08:20) *James Welch:* with ads for vacations and all that jazz (22:08:30) *Brian Zollman:* Ususally they are site related (22:08:38) *Me:* and the ads should be related to space-like stuff (22:08:44) *Me:* which is in part the brilliance of it (22:08:46) *Brian Zollman:* We would probably get stuff advertising vacations to the space coast and the like (22:08:46) *James Welch:* that I'm fine iwth (22:08:50) *James Welch:* proceed (22:09:06) *Me:* so those are the +/- that I see (22:09:14) *Me:* and what we used when initially deciding to go withit (22:09:21) *Me:* so are there any new objections? (22:09:46) *Brian Zollman:* I think we should go for it (22:10:02) *Me:* ok, giving 10 more s (22:10:14) *Me:* ok sold (22:10:24) *Me:* any other concerns? (22:10:24) *James Welch:* what kind of income are we talking (22:10:26) *Brian Zollman:* Side question, did the tax free status go through or are we still waiting for the government to get back to us. (22:10:38) *Me:* the guy never got back to me about the amount we could get out of it (22:10:47) *Me:* (which is hwere teh ball was dropped) (22:11:02) *Me:* so I will keep you guys in the loop once I get that info (22:11:13) *Brian Zollman:* I looked into it briefly for my blog. you get about $0.10 per view or click (22:11:25) *Me:* about tax free, I think we're still waiting on govnmt (22:11:27) *Brian Zollman:* and you don't get paid until your account has over $10 (22:11:30) *Me:* john was on earlier (22:11:33) *Me:* not sure where he went (22:12:01) *Me:* has anyone emailed him about it recently? (22:12:35) *Me:* ok, well I'll check with him and Liz aobut that (22:12:39) *Me:* anythign else? (22:12:59) *Me:* ok, in that case, meeting is over (22:13:05) *Me:* (sorry we ran a little over tongith)
