[18:04] RolandBolser Voom: so ryan [18:05] RolandBolser Voom: I've been going over the situaton with Gaston and Will [18:05] RolandBolser Voom: and there is an extreme clamp in the funds [18:05] RolandBolser Voom: is there a way we could get some more money or is it all tied up? [18:06] Ryanblah Qinan: what would this money be used for [18:06] Ryanblah Qinan: I know will originally wanted to use some money to reimburse his travel/hotel [18:06] Ryanblah Qinan: which I don't want to do [18:06] Ryanblah Qinan: but what do you need more than $1k for [18:07] RolandBolser Voom: gawwwhh [18:07] RolandBolser Voom: osrry, secondlife [18:07] RolandBolser Voom: okay, the cost of the first is 500 and the place for teh second is at least 250 [18:07] RolandBolser Voom: so we just need enough to get the drinks for the second [18:08] RolandBolser Voom: estimated at about 500 min [18:08] Ryanblah Qinan: what is the first [18:08] RolandBolser Voom: okay, to bring everyone up to speed [18:08] RolandBolser Voom: the first is the one at gastons, to be held on firday night [18:08] Ryanblah Qinan: you need $500 for that? [18:09] RolandBolser Voom: that's what Gaston quoted [18:09] Ryanblah Qinan: so if I gave you another $250, that would be more of less sufficient [18:09] RolandBolser Voom: the second one is the more important one tho [18:09] Ryanblah Qinan: how does this compare to what was spent at isdc [18:10] Ryanblah Qinan: party [18:10] RolandBolser Voom: they had open bar [18:10] Ryanblah Qinan: the one in the hotel room? [18:10] You: I thought someone just bought bottles for that one [18:10] RolandBolser Voom: that was closer to 1000 [18:11] RolandBolser Voom: I was thinking Newspace [18:11] RolandBolser Voom: so if you can approve whatever it takes to bring it up to 500, that can be worked with [18:12] Ryanblah Qinan: ok, so if I make party budget $1250, that would make you happy? [18:12] RolandBolser Voom: that assumes that we can get aroom close by for 250 [18:13] RolandBolser Voom: the university parrk hotell is 400 a night and might be the best option at this point [18:13] RolandBolser Voom: but if you only have like 500 extra dollar [18:13] RolandBolser Voom: but lets finsih htis after [18:13] RolandBolser Voom: I can understand not being able to help [18:13] You: ok good idea [18:14] Ryanblah Qinan: i think we can probably spare it, just need to make sure [18:14] You: Ryan do you want to start off with the two new competitions? [18:15] Ryanblah Qinan: ok, so as you guys saw [18:15] Ryanblah Qinan: and then saw the update to the zerog one [18:15] Ryanblah Qinan: so basically, you guys can read all abou the zerog one [18:15] Ryanblah Qinan: if you have questions, go ahead and bring them up [18:15] Ryanblah Qinan: as for mdrs [18:15] Ryanblah Qinan: the plan is to announce at the competition [18:15] You: yeah the zero-g one looks great [18:16] Ryanblah Qinan: at hte banquet [18:16] Ryanblah Qinan: and well, you guys can read about that one too [18:16] RolandBolser Voom: the zero g one confused me a little [18:16] Ryanblah Qinan: in what way [18:17] RolandBolser Voom: it was really open ended amd the prize wasn't really connected to the competition [18:17] Ryanblah Qinan: well, it was meant to be rather open ended [18:17] You: I think it works better being open ended b/c then chapters can tailor their plans to their own situations [18:17] Ryanblah Qinan: as long as you can come up with an outreach proposal [18:18] BTYoung Yifu: exactly, what do you mean by not connected to the competition? [18:18] BTYoung Yifu: exactly on the open ended= good [18:18] Ryanblah Qinan: don't really want to impose my ideas onto it b/c that imposes our ideas to it [18:18] RolandBolser Voom: by open ended, i mean the judging criteria is really loose soif no one doees an outstanding job, it will be hard to choose [18:18] Ryanblah Qinan: but you are right about the prize [18:18] Ryanblah Qinan: it isn't really connected that closely with competition [18:19] Ryanblah Qinan: but is really just supposed to be a high-ticket item to stimulate interest and hype [18:19] You: yeah I think that is great [18:19] You: just what seds member would want [18:19] Ryanblah Qinan: and this is open to anyone (seds or not) [18:19] RolandBolser Voom: interesting [18:19] Ryanblah Qinan: so also outreaches in and of itself [18:20] Ryanblah Qinan: maybe we can pull some more people in [18:20] Ryanblah Qinan: on that note, be prepared to do some outreach at the confere [18:20] RolandBolser Voom: cusat does a lot of outreach [18:20] Ryanblah Qinan: since there are schools present w/o chapters [18:20] RolandBolser Voom: so that I'll let them know [18:20] Ryanblah Qinan: ie students that have registered [18:21] Ryanblah Qinan: any other questions, concerns? [18:21] BTYoung Yifu: most of those from the new england area? [18:21] Ryanblah Qinan: most yes [18:22] Ryanblah Qinan: also saw some princetons [18:22] RolandBolser Voom: hwat if we get just one chapter that does this? [18:22] RolandBolser Voom: are we still going togive ito ut?> [18:22] You: is there an estimate to how many entries you think you will get? [18:23] Ryanblah Qinan: well, first of all, this is an individual thing, not a chapter thing [18:23] Ryanblah Qinan: (1 person prize) [18:23] Ryanblah Qinan: I really have no idea how many entries we will get [18:23] Ryanblah Qinan: but would like to get either/or jake, brian etc to submit [18:23] You: ok [18:23] Ryanblah Qinan: so we can be guarunteed to have at least a couple of good proposals [18:23] Ryanblah Qinan: so that we won't be stuck with a few bad ones [18:24] You: ok [18:24] BTYoung Yifu: all right, i'll look into that.... sometime soon [18:24] Ryanblah Qinan: cool [18:24] RolandBolser Voom: I'll get teh group to work on it [18:25] RolandBolser Voom: these guys really like outreach, so I' ll draw some hyope to it [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: cool [18:25] Ryanblah Qinan: other issues?
