[17:58] Jedi8798: I have considered doing a further 'shakeup' of the exec board [17:58] rmmlg08: that's what happens when you control the purse strings [17:58] Jedi8798: but given that we havent even been able to find a replacement for publications [17:58] rmmlg08: yeah, that's the problem with national boards [17:58] rmmlg08: or boards at mit for that matter [17:58] Jedi8798: yeah [17:59] Jedi8798: We're still making great progress [17:59] Jedi8798: and stuff is getting done [17:59] Jedi8798: just not as much as could be happening [17:59] Jedi8798: Have you guys had a chance to look over the expansion pack I sent out? [17:59] Jedi8798: it is far from complete, but I wanted to get your general impressions/input [17:59] KellyMann10: not yet, i just got home [18:00] KellyMann10: should i read it now? [18:00] Jedi8798: it is a 20 page document [18:00] Jedi8798: but if you could skim it over the next few days [18:00] Jedi8798: and give me any feedback [18:00] Jedi8798: it would be appreciated [18:00] KellyMann10: k [18:01] Jedi8798: I've tried to design teh document as an expansion kit for both SEDS USA and SEDS Earth [18:01] Jedi8798: the SEDS Earth information isnt official yet [18:01] Jedi8798: but a preview on what I will be proposing to SEDS-Earth as a structure for their organization [18:08] Jedi8798: Alright, we've waited long enough, doesnt look like anyone else is showing [18:08] Jedi8798: First item: National alliances and benefits [18:10] Jedi8798: Things I've come up with lately that I'd like to write in stone are: discounted conference admission, table space at conferences, logo link on main website, preferance for scholarships/opportunities, and 1 year free membership to SEDS graduates. [18:10] Jedi8798: I'd like to formally make agreements with our MOU signatories along these lines [18:12] rmmlg08: ok [18:12] Jedi8798: Do you guys have any additional items to add? or comments on the ones I've already mentioned? [18:12] rmmlg08: I do not [18:13] KellyMann10: me neither [18:13] Jedi8798: well if you guys have any further suggestions let me know [18:13] KellyMann10: k [18:14] Jedi8798: next item [18:14] Jedi8798: actually [18:14] Jedi8798: need to vote on previous item [18:14] Jedi8798: all in favor of asking for the above benefits from our MOU signatories and offering the same in return? (Aye/Nay/Abstain) [18:14] rmmlg08: i [18:15] KellyMann10: aye [18:15] joc 75: define MOU [18:16] Jedi8798: Memorandum of Understanding [18:16] joc 75: aye [18:16] Jedi8798: back at the first SEDS conference at MIT we signed one with AAS I believe [18:16] Jedi8798: and we've basically got one with NSS [18:16] Jedi8798: motion carries [18:16] Jedi8798: 4-0-0 [18:17] Jedi8798: Next item [18:17] Jedi8798: Florida Chapter Expansion [18:17] Jedi8798: the Florida Space Grant has approached me about starting new SEDS chapters in their region [18:17] Jedi8798: they're willing to offer start up money for new chapters, free admission to their rocket competitions, etc.. to help encourage more local chapters [18:18] Jedi8798: I'd like to talk to Pete Worden about the Shuttle Launch tickets he offered at Space Vision [18:19] Jedi8798: and use these as an initial incentive [18:19] rmmlg08: mitseds has been talking to him/his secretart [18:19] rmmlg08: about that [18:19] Jedi8798: Ok, wished you had let me know, since the offer was to the entire SEDS organization, not just MIT [18:19] Jedi8798: how has it progressed? [18:20] rmmlg08: well, we weren't just talking for mit [18:20] rmmlg08: but basically, looks like we're getting relatively set with it [18:20] rmmlg08: main problem is when an actual shuttle launhces [18:20] rmmlg08: but for chapters close to the launch area, this may be less of a problem [18:21] Jedi8798: please forward to me what has been done with this so far [18:21] Jedi8798: because I've already been talking with Florida chapters about this and how to best use the offer [18:21] rmmlg08: we'll pass it along [18:22] Jedi8798: and please remember that individual chapters cannot negotiate on behalf of the whole organization without discussing it with national [18:23] Jedi8798: Ryan, would you like to talk about the Endowment fund meeting? [18:23] Jedi8798: has it been firmly decided for Saturday? [18:23] rmmlg08: well, I've only gotten one advisor response [18:24] rmmlg08: granted it's still 1.5 weeks out [18:24] rmmlg08: so I'll try again in a few days [18:24] rmmlg08: so not too sure at this stage [18:25] rmmlg08: but hte idea is to basically go over the mods we've made (culminating in that last meeting that we had here with stuff I presented) [18:25] Jedi8798: k [18:25] Jedi8798: anything further you need from the Exec Board? [18:26] Jedi8798: before the meeting? [18:26] rmmlg08: no [18:26] KellyMann10: k [18:26] rmmlg08: actually [18:26] rmmlg08: any of you planning on attending? [18:26] KellyMann10: what is the date? [18:26] rmmlg08: (assuming we have it, b/c useless w/o advisors since we've already discussed) [18:26] rmmlg08: next sat [18:26] rmmlg08: (ie not this coming one) [18:27] KellyMann10: i might be able to, if im not visiting a college, which i should know soon enough [18:27] Jedi8798: I can most likely make it [18:27] Jedi8798: might not be participating as actively as in the past, as I have some Tranquility Trek meetings [18:27] Jedi8798: but I'll at least lurk [18:27] joc 75: should be there [18:27] rmmlg08: k [18:29] Jedi8798: Anything further Ryan? [18:29] rmmlg08: nope [18:31] Jedi8798: Next item, ISDC preparations. How we doing Ryan? [18:32] rmmlg08: we're moving along [18:32] Jedi8798: do we have an estimated attendance / planned activities? [18:32] rmmlg08: I'm currently estimating ~37 people [18:32] joc 75: oh wow [18:32] joc 75: where from? [18:32] rmmlg08: hopefully most of which will be volunteering [18:33] rmmlg08: well [18:33] rmmlg08: 8 mit [18:33] rmmlg08: 12 ucf [18:33] rmmlg08: hopefully 3 keene [18:33] rmmlg08: (updates kelly?) [18:33] rmmlg08: josh [18:33] rmmlg08: a fee from a&m [18:33] rmmlg08: 3-5 from wpi [18:33] rmmlg08: jake [18:33] rmmlg08: maybe a couple from gwu [18:33] rmmlg08: ~3 from ub [18:34] joc 75: okay [18:34] rmmlg08: at least that's what I've heard from people [18:34] Jedi8798: probably 2 from UofA, myself and at least one other who lives in the area. [18:34] rmmlg08: ok, keep me posted [18:34] rmmlg08: (I was told no one else was interested, but more the better) [18:34] rmmlg08: ayway, for activities [18:35] rmmlg08: jake was going to mention options to us [18:35] rmmlg08: we'll probablly choose speakers as exec board [18:35] rmmlg08: since no one has responded to him or me [18:35] rmmlg08: regarding preferences [18:35] Jedi8798: thats the same we did last year [18:35] Jedi8798: worked well enough [18:36] rmmlg08: yeah [18:36] rmmlg08: I guess there will be some sort of party thing again...need to ask jake about that too [18:37] Jedi8798: k [18:37] Jedi8798: should poke SFF about the after party [18:37] Jedi8798: especially given their conference will be in DC as well [18:37] Jedi8798: if people can make it to ISDC, they can likely make SFF [18:37] rmmlg08: also, next coc we're going to decide on a coc at the conference [18:37] rmmlg08: and that's the plan [18:38] Jedi8798: sounds good [18:38] Jedi8798: any questions for Ryan? [18:38] KellyMann10: no [18:39] Jedi8798: Darrell, want to talk about SFF conference ? [18:39] joc 75: sure [18:39] joc 75: I have 12 names [18:39] joc 75: of people interested in going [18:39] joc 75: all from UCF [18:39] joc 75: is anyone on exec interested in going? [18:39] joc 75: I'm going to send these names to Will on Friday [18:40] KellyMann10: what is the SFF conference? [18:40] rmmlg08: is that the financial thing? [18:40] joc 75: yeah [18:40] joc 75: as in he's going to try and fundraise money for everything but travel [18:41] joc 75: Space Frontier Foundation Conference [18:41] joc 75: Newspace 2008 [18:41] joc 75: you can google it [18:41] joc 75: but he needs names sooner rather than later [18:41] joc 75: he was orginally looking for about 20 people [18:41] joc 75: I'd like to get him a little over that [18:41] joc 75: with the understanding that the people won't go if he can't raise the money [18:42] Jedi8798: put me down as a maybe [18:42] joc 75: alright [18:42] Jedi8798: we'll see if I can fund myself... [18:42] KellyMann10: ohh, i remember this now [18:42] joc 75: use the higher numbers as an incentive [18:42] rmmlg08: i'm down to a probably no (given that I took the job in co) [18:42] Jedi8798: grats on that Ryan [18:42] joc 75: guess we'll have to see about Jake and Brian [18:42] joc 75: they both went to it last year [18:42] joc 75: and I went the year before that [18:43] KellyMann10: I interested, but not quite sure yet [18:43] KellyMann10: if i will be able to go [18:43] joc 75: well...get me decisions sooner than later [18:43] joc 75: and I'll forward names to Will [18:43] KellyMann10: ok [18:43] rmmlg08: given the similar location, we can certainly check around exp the people whoare going to isdc [18:44] joc 75: yeah [18:44] joc 75: that's all from me [18:44] Jedi8798: ok, given Ryan G couldnt make it, does anyone have anything else? [18:46] rmmlg08: no [18:46] KellyMann10: no [18:46] Jedi8798: ok in that case, meeting adjurned. Please look over the Expansion Kit over the next week and email me any feedback.
