on the Endowment Fund meeting from Saturday
[18:09] rmmlg08: ok, so we had a meeting with john
gedmark and steve abrams and a few of us on sat
[18:09] rmmlg08: talked over the various updates that
we've gone through
[18:10] rmmlg08: overall, we're going to look at some
other organisations
[18:11] rmmlg08: and get help from the endowment
company in wording of the bylaws
[18:12] rmmlg08: but we're going to start looking
proactively in gettign together the board
[18:12] rmmlg08: while we finish finalizing the
various rules
[18:12] rmmlg08: and that's the general idea
[18:13] rmmlg08: questions?
[18:13] Nyeerrmm: what approach are we planning to
take for who we ask to be on the board?
[18:13] Jedi8798: any specific timetable for getting
these things done?
[18:13] rmmlg08: realistically, I don't see much
happening in the next few weeks
[18:13] rmmlg08: while I get done with this godawful
term
[18:13] rmmlg08: but, then I hope to make a lot of
progress over the summer
[18:14] rmmlg08: for approaching people
[18:14] rmmlg08: we'e going to start out with people
close to seds
[18:14] rmmlg08: and we can invite them easily
[18:14] rmmlg08: then once we have a good base
[18:14] rmmlg08: that we can use to start moving
forward with officially
[18:15] rmmlg08: we can start looking for others
[18:15] Nyeerrmm: all right, when i was talking to
john gedmark earlier that was one thing he was
particularly concerned about
[18:15] rmmlg08: suggestions for advisors welcome, but
I'm going to work on getting some preliminary lists
together soon
[18:15] Nyeerrmm: partially because certain people who
can be on an advisory board could not be on a trustees
board, particularly government officials (Pete Worden)
[18:16] rmmlg08: why is that
[18:16] Nyeerrmm: government rules
[18:16] rmmlg08: ok
[18:16] rmmlg08: good to know
[18:16] Nyeerrmm: a trustees board has a lot more
powerful and there are all kinds of rules for
government work, particularly with appointed positions

[18:17] Jedi8798: If not, then I'll give the SEDS
Earth Update

[18:18] Jedi8798: not many people showed up, it was
basically just me, Mike from SEDS Canada, and the self
appointed council
[18:18] Jedi8798: They didnt have any working
document, so the proposed structure from SEDS USA was
accepted as a working document
[18:19] Jedi8798: for the most part they like it
[18:19] Jedi8798: cept they want to make SEDS USA
underneath the perview of SEDS Earth
[18:20] Jedi8798: I pointed out they have quite a long
way to go before we will accept that

permission to use the SEDS USA constitution as a model
to craft their constitution after
[18:21] Jedi8798: They'll have their next meeting next
monday

[18:21] Jedi8798: Lavina from SEDS Phillipines, and 2
others, I forget their names

[18:23] Jedi8798: I think alot of us have been
operating a little too 'off the hip' taking things as
they come without any set goals
[18:23] Jedi8798: So I would like all officers to draw
up some goals for their position for this summer
[18:23] Jedi8798: Example: HaoQi's goals may be: To
expand SEDS USA to 40 chapters by September 1st
[18:24] AeroAggie84:  that seems fair
[18:24] Jedi8798: We'll then go over these goals next
meeting.

annoyed, I am trying to explain to him our point of
view, and perhaps get him involved helping with SEDS
Earth
[18:26] hydrogenlithium: what are his reasons?
[18:26] Jedi8798: while I dont think much harm has
been done we need to address these situations more
seriously in the future

[18:26] Jedi8798: We basically thought of his offer as
a joke before
[18:26] Jedi8798: and didnt act at the time
[18:26] Jedi8798: creating the situation we now have
[18:26] Jedi8798: so we'll need to watch for that in
the future

differently?
[18:27] Jedi8798: We could have expressed our concerns
at the beggining
[18:27] Jedi8798: and said we would appreciate it if
he did not pursue this
[18:27] Jedi8798: because he did approach us earlier
[18:28] Jedi8798: at which point we should have
expressed our concerns
[18:28] Jedi8798: instead of just brushing him off
[18:28] Jedi8798: anything else anyone has on this
item?
[18:28] DarrellDCain: so a more effective use of
resources

[18:29] DarrellDCain: by channeling any offers into
the proper channels
[18:29] DarrellDCain: instead of ignoring or brushing
them off
[18:29] Jedi8798: as well as being more definite
[18:29] Jedi8798: either accepting an offer

posters
[18:32] Nyeerrmm: yeah, ill be in the area for a
couple of weeks before hand also so i'll have some
time to get stuff done if we need it

conference display?

on?

as if it looks professional, etc..

conference display board to hang the posters on if
possible

for free?

after finals

they can bring?

of display before

drawing done by then...
[18:37] Nyeerrmm: i've got a 200 lb thrust rocket i'll
have with me
[18:37] Jedi8798: but the problem is shipping them
from conference to conference is expensive
[18:37] Nyeerrmm: keepsake from senior design

autograph on it

should be examples of what students have done

brought/displayed?
