(6:32:53 PM) Joshua Nelson: 8 out of 11 present. Keri Hancock called ahead to say she would not be attending

(6:35:18 PM) Joshua Nelson: Lets start with CoC first, since I was not able to attend till late and asked Keri to serve in my stead, Keri could you update us on the CoC?
(6:36:08 PM) Keri Bean: probably Grant's better to do that than I
(6:36:17 PM) Joshua Nelson: Then Grant?
(6:36:22 PM) Keri Bean: but we did bring up the things we discussed in last week's exec meeting
(6:36:40 PM) Grant Atkinson: that was the focus of the agenda items we talked about at the last CoC
(6:36:48 PM) Grant Atkinson: more specifically
(6:37:06 PM) Grant Atkinson: we discussed the issue of having a point of contact for educational outreach at each SEDS chapter
(6:37:26 PM) Grant Atkinson: some of the reps seemed to be willing to do that themselves
(6:37:37 PM) Grant Atkinson: others said they'd mention it to their chapters to pick a PoC
(6:37:45 PM) Grant Atkinson: we also discussed the video podcast project
(6:37:47 PM) Grant Atkinson: the blog proposal
(6:37:54 PM) Grant Atkinson: and Keri H's calendar proposal
(6:38:05 PM) Joshua Nelson: Any major issues with any of these?
(6:38:06 PM) Grant Atkinson: mostly just trying to pass the information along to chapter representatives
(6:38:23 PM) Grant Atkinson: no major issues, i was mostly just trying to get the word out
(6:38:33 PM) Grant Atkinson: since none of those projects are far enough along to have real voting issues yet
(6:38:58 PM) Rick Hanton: Is there going to be an incentive to have a PoC?
(6:39:11 PM) Grant Atkinson: i hadn't mentioned having an incentive
(6:39:22 PM) Keri Bean: you mean you need something other than my complete adoration? ;-)
(6:39:23 PM) Joshua Nelson: I think the idea was it was just an optional thing to help streamline communications
(6:39:24 PM) Grant Atkinson: i could bring that up at the next meeting if we want to create an incentive
(6:39:27 PM) Grant Atkinson: yeah
(6:40:01 PM) Grant Atkinson: i mostly tried to just make the chapters aware that we want a line of communication between national SEDS and local chapters with respect to educational outreach

(6:40:37 PM) Joshua Nelson: it has been brought to my attention numerous times
(6:40:46 PM) Joshua Nelson: that reps felt the meeting was very chaotic

(6:41:06 PM) Joshua Nelson: I'd like to open discussion on how to improve that for next CoC
(6:41:16 PM) Joshua Nelson: or maybe first get Grant's opinion

(6:41:35 PM) Grant Atkinson: i think the main thing that made it chaotic
(6:41:39 PM) Grant Atkinson: at least from my perspective
(6:41:57 PM) Grant Atkinson: was not knowing exactly what i was going to say and how to proceed on each issue
(6:42:08 PM) Grant Atkinson: i'm going to plot this out in greater detail next time before the meeting
(6:42:17 PM) Grant Atkinson: and contact members of the exec board present on what i want them to say
(6:42:26 PM) Grant Atkinson: so that i'm not trying to do that during the meeting

(6:43:04 PM) Joshua Nelson: sounds good, one thing I would also like to suggest
(6:43:12 PM) Joshua Nelson: is that the Exec Board rep is there to represent the board and give our opinion on items
(6:43:20 PM) Grant Atkinson: yeah
(6:43:26 PM) Joshua Nelson: The Director of Chapter Affairs is more of a moderator position
(6:43:39 PM) Grant Atkinson: i plan on not bringing up my opinion next time
(6:43:46 PM) Grant Atkinson: it was definatly a learning experience for me
(6:43:47 PM) Joshua Nelson: The Exec Board rep can of course call on other exec board members present if they feel they need the additional input
(6:44:04 PM) Joshua Nelson: no prob, believe it or not that is still not the worse CoC we've had by far
(6:44:08 PM) Joshua Nelson: just some areas to improve on
(6:44:13 PM) Joshua Nelson: Any other input for Grant?
(6:44:40 PM) Rick Hanton: Are the minutes up on the wiki yet?
(6:44:40 PM) Ryan McLinko: new reps will be coming on board very soon

(6:45:21 PM) Ryan McLinko: so they should be familiarized with the process in advance... voting, motions and other stuff

(6:47:17 PM) Grant Atkinson: and since the next regularly scheduled one won't be until the last week of january

(6:47:58 PM) Rick Hanton: That's right in the middle of some people's finals.
(6:48:25 PM) Grant Atkinson: the only other wednesday's are Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve though
(6:48:33 PM) Grant Atkinson: and i'd rather keep the day constant for simplicity

(6:48:44 PM) Joshua Nelson: would there be much to discuss during holiday season?

(6:50:06 PM) Grant Atkinson: just to make sure we're clear, i'm talking about the 17th

(6:52:04 PM) Keri Bean: okay, so basically I think we need nice SEDS officer polos
(6:52:16 PM) Keri Bean: When I do talks, I always wear a polo
(6:52:33 PM) Keri Bean: and when I went to do the outreach on Thursday, I realized I didn't have one for SEDS!
(6:52:40 PM) Rick Hanton: I will be good for any video recordings we do of us too.
(6:52:57 PM) Keri Bean: exactly, especially for the endowment fund video
(6:53:04 PM) Keri Bean: and any podcasts we do
(6:53:24 PM) Keri Bean: it's a good way to look like more professional students
(6:54:17 PM) Joshua Nelson: We had polos about 3 years ago
(6:54:26 PM) Rick Hanton: So who's going to organize that?
(6:54:31 PM) Joshua Nelson: Exec board covered the setup cost I believe, then people could buy them individually
(6:54:45 PM) Joshua Nelson: First off, we need to hash it out more
(6:54:57 PM) Joshua Nelson: since it is commiting the organization financially, possibly
(6:55:04 PM) Joshua Nelson: So what do you propose/how?
(6:55:06 PM) Joshua Nelson: Keri
(6:55:23 PM) Joshua Nelson: or are you just doing a poll of interest, and want more time to look up how we could do it?
(6:55:35 PM) Keri Bean: well, I think the officers should have theirs compensated, and then open it up to chapters
(6:55:46 PM) Rick Hanton: Hmm. A good concept.
(6:55:59 PM) Rick Hanton: I'm pretty sure our advisor would buy in.
(6:56:01 PM) Joshua Nelson: But it depends ont eh polos
(6:56:05 PM) Joshua Nelson: are we doing Officers polos?
(6:56:08 PM) Keri Bean: we can ask at the CoC about having chapters bring it up to our reps
(6:56:11 PM) Joshua Nelson: or all SEDS polos
(6:56:24 PM) Keri Bean: it could really go either way
(6:56:25 PM) Keri Bean: or both!
(6:57:03 PM) Joshua Nelson: how about setting up a seds account on Zazzle or something?
(6:57:05 PM) Joshua Nelson: that could handle it?
(6:57:18 PM) Joshua Nelson: therefore we dont have to worry about SEDS USA money or getting chapters to commit
(6:57:18 PM) Keri Bean: I only thought of this today, so I don't have any details hashed out lol
(6:57:19 PM) Rick Hanton: Yeah, that way we wouldn't have to manage distro.

(6:57:32 PM) Keri Bean: that'd be a very hands off way of doing it

(6:57:45 PM) Rick Hanton: If we can make a quality shirt there that looks nice.
(6:57:50 PM) Joshua Nelson: Keri would you be interested in leading the research on this?

(6:58:05 PM) Joshua Nelson: and getting back to us next week with options, pricing, etc..?

(6:58:38 PM) Keri Bean: It'll have to wait a bit, as soon as I finish finals, I have to go give a few Phoenix lectures

(7:03:27 PM) Joshua Nelson: basically SEDS Earth has no legitimate structure right now, and that is the proposed structure we gave them last year
(7:03:37 PM) Joshua Nelson: if they do anything with it, great, if not, no skin off our noses.

(7:04:57 PM) Joshua Nelson: is that SEDS Earth needs to start off with the biggest, oldest chapters onboard
(7:05:09 PM) Joshua Nelson: recently it has been 1 person chapters trying to run it
(7:05:15 PM) Joshua Nelson: so SEDS UK and SEDS USA have been ignoring it
(7:05:40 PM) Joshua Nelson: I've heard from SEDS India, they are onboard. SEDS UK is going through a transition right now of officers, I've asked them for their opinions
(7:05:54 PM) Joshua Nelson: if both SEDS India and SEDS UK come onboard, I would like to pressure SEDS USA to as well
(7:06:01 PM) Joshua Nelson: in an informal capacity
