Action Items
- Joshua Sosa contact Basant Sagar about the SEDS resumes and user accounts are appearing on publicly on google.
- Ryan McLinko will represent the Executive Board at the next Council of Chapters meeting.
- Joshua Nelson will write up an abstract for the "How a student can get involved in space" presentation.
- Ryan McLinko will contact UCF SEDS for housing suggestions during ISDC
Meeting Minutes
- SEDS chapter leaders listserv
- Discussed overhauling the current SEDS-Discuss listserv and utilizing it for SEDS Chapter leaders (President, Vice President, Officers) to keep in contact with each other and discuss ideas.
- Discussed purging and rebooting the current SEDS-Duscuss listserv to make it more relevant.
- CoC Summary
- Council of Chapters voted to remove Pennsylvania State University from the national SEDS organization.
- Pennsylvania State University SEDS has been inactive for approximately a year now.
- no opposition to remove Pennsylvania State University them from the national SEDS organization.
- Discussed how to get member lists in the future.
- Discussed posting SEDS pictures to the website
- Council of Chapters voted to remove Pennsylvania State University from the national SEDS organization.
- Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station on SEDS.org
- Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station via Joshua Nelson has requested temporary use of space on The SEDS.org website
- Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station will use the SEDS.org website to post blogs, video walk throughs of the HAB,and tours of the MDRS.
- SEDS Executive Board Motion: Allow Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station the temporary use of the SEDS.org website to post various mission related items.
- Motion passes 4-0-0 Aye/Nay/Abstain. However due to the low Executive Board attendance this week the motion will be sent out to the listserv for additional comments or objections.
- Joshua Nelson also abstains since he is affiliated with the Mars Society.
- Publications
- Item not discussed since executive board members who deal with Publications were absent.
- ISDC
- This year ISDC will be held in Orlando Florida.
- Traditionally at ISDC we have a booth, some private meetings with speakers of our choice, volunteering for waiving of registration fee, and networking events.
- Discusses creating a "What is SEDS" or a "How a student can get involved in space" presentation.
- Suggested that SEDS have a presence at ISDC by either USA Exec Board members and or chapter leaders.
- Also suggested a "SEDS dinner" for SEDS members present at ISDC
- Discussed talking to SEDS UCF for housing suggestions during ISDC.
- Other future conferences
- Suggested having SEDS USA presence at the first Falcon 9 launch down at Cape Canaveral
- Exact date is not currently know, but a rough date will be available soon
- Suggested having SEDS USA presence at the first Falcon 9 launch down at Cape Canaveral
- Discussion of non-student officer status
- Keri Hancock (current Director of High School Affairs) may be forced to leave her university.
- Board members discussed what will happen if an executive board member suddenly must leave their college.
- Ruled out emergency election
- Came to the conclusion that if a students education is suddenly interrupted, they can finish out the next semester. If they have not returned to full time student status by the beginning of the next semester, they must resign from the executive board.
Progress Reports
- Ryan McLinko
- Updating list of conferences for the upcoming year.
- Reorganizing method of contact for the BoA and Alumni Board.
- Will do quarterly updates in addition to usual one-on-one contacts.
- Currently speaking with board members to see if should do anything else.
- Trying to find more endowment pledges.
- No other progress reports received.
