Also, you're not getting clearance for it. End of story. Ryan McLinko, Vice Chair SEDS (9:37:13 PM): sounds like a major headache to even get them to consider it Michael Green, SEDS UCF (9:37:21 PM): I agree, sounds awesome... but not sure how someone could set that up Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:37:23 PM): Like I said, I'm not sure about the logistics yet Brian Young, Educational Outreach (9:37:37 PM): logistics would be a problem also, its much cheaper to go to new mexico than the middle of the pacific, at least for most chapters Antonio Villarreal, UofA SEDS (9:37:54 PM): I would hope for all chapters. Unless they're in Hawaii. :P Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:37:59 PM): I know that some of the other rockoons launched in the past have been launched from Aircraft Carriers and other ships Stephanie Herpich, WPI SEDS (9:38:09 PM): the very first one was off of a ship Brian Young, Educational Outreach (9:38:26 PM): do you what scale they were and who had sponsored them? Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:38:40 PM): Not at this time Antonio Villarreal, UofA SEDS (9:39:39 PM): The first one was launched by US military, which is why they were out there. Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:39:41 PM): Again, it's just an idea, i just wanted to get opinion for what others think Basant Sagar, MIT SEDS (9:39:47 PM): don't you think the weather will be more of a headache in the middle of the ocean Basant Sagar, MIT SEDS (9:39:58 PM): ? Stephanie Herpich, WPI SEDS (9:41:42 PM): i think an aircraft carrier would be awesome, for what it's worth Grant Atkinson, Texas A&M SEDS (9:41:44 PM): if it could be worked out i'd be interested Coralie Jackman, UIUC SEDS (9:41:46 PM): and cost of travel isnt ridiculously expensive Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:41:48 PM): I'd like to open the floor for discussions of other launch locations as well, and also suggest to the exec board the possibility of an Aicraft carrier launch Stephanie Herpich, WPI SEDS (9:42:09 PM): really, our chapter won't mind much where we do it as long as we get to launch rockets Basant Sagar, MIT SEDS (9:42:11 PM): launching from a carrier will me a much better option than no contest at all or another date extension Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:42:25 PM): My thoughts exactly Brian Young, Educational Outreach (9:42:36 PM): theres a lot of upcoming spaceport sites, including spaceport america Grant Atkinson, Texas A&M SEDS (9:42:39 PM): probably the easiest thing to do would be to talk to the private spaceports like Spaceport America, the Oklahoma Spaceport, or MARS Justin Richardson, ISSS (9:43:08 PM): Sounds like another plausible idea that may be better even than Xprize Basant Sagar, MIT SEDS (9:43:20 PM): sounds good Basant Sagar, MIT SEDS (9:43:39 PM): but i suspect they'll charge a fortune for that, am I right?
