[20:10] Basant Sagar: this week i contacted the HAL5 society
[20:10] Basant Sagar: they have agreed to donate ~500 for the contest
[20:11] Basant Sagar: actually they are reviewing my sponsorship doc
[20:11] Basant Sagar: so maybe the amt may go up
[20:11] Rick Hanton: or down
[20:11] Rick Hanton: hopefully up
[20:11] Basant Sagar: >=
[20:12] Basant Sagar: also, in a month, we'll get to know the exact details of rockoon presence at ISDS 2011
[20:12] Basant Sagar: I contnued talks with AeroPac as well
[20:13] Basant Sagar: and they have agreed to take care of logistics and launch permissions from FAA at blackrock
[20:13] Basant Sagar: i'm in talks about the right time, weather-wise, to conduct the contest
[20:14] Basant Sagar: balckrock is sort of wet and watery early june
[20:14] Basant Sagar: so late June seems to be a good time
[20:14] Basant Sagar: winds might be a problem, though
[20:15] Basant Sagar: also, I offered AeroPac the title of "Official Lauch/Logistics Partner" for the contest
[20:15] Basant Sagar: some of the ususal sponsor benefits will be extended to them, in lieu of helping us with logistics and stuff
[20:16] Basant Sagar: i'll be having a conf. call with them sometime this week
[20:16] Basant Sagar: ... waiting to hear from other sponsors
[20:16] Joshua Nelson: Cool, what specifically does it look like they can provide?
[20:16] Joshua Nelson: logistically
[20:17] Basant Sagar: FAA launch clearance upto 100k ft or higher
[20:17] Basant Sagar: and infrastructure to assure safety
[20:17] Basant Sagar: they have offered to help with the safety review of each team
[20:17] Joshua Nelson: k
[20:18] Rick Hanton: Winds are a big deal. In my mind wind > water (because of the balloons).
[20:18] Basant Sagar: yeah
[20:18] Ryan McLinko: ok, anythign else basant?
[20:18] Basant Sagar: actually, most of the high altitude launches at black rock are done in aug/sept
[20:19] Basant Sagar: but i want the contest to be held in june
[20:19] Basant Sagar: so we'll figure that out
[20:19] Basant Sagar: nope

[20:20] Joshua Nelson: August wouldn't be horrible, long as it isnt late august (when we'd conflict with school)

[20:20] Ryan McLinko: we had a meeting with john and will to discuss fundraising strategey
[20:20] Ryan McLinko: and we're pretty much on the same page:
[20:20] Ryan McLinko: -alumni microdonations with darrell and josh leading
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: -small sponsors with me being helped by john and will
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: and trying to get matching donations and such from larger companies
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: also, I've set an update to the board of trustees
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: I'm about to begin the next round of asking for money to john's contact list and companies
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: any questions?
[20:22] Joshua Nelson: Sounds good.
[20:22] Ryan McLinko: ok, we'll table nova update due to matt's absence (unless anyone objects)
[20:23] Ryan McLinko: chapter expansion update: rick
[20:23] Rick Hanton: OK, well quick from what Matt told me, NOVA has been his priority lately (though he's having computer issues)
[20:23] Rick Hanton: From my side
[20:24] Rick Hanton: I've been working on trying to nail down good contacts to look at pushing a chapter expansion kit to.
[20:24] Rick Hanton: Apparently without his PC, Matt says he may be of less help than he'd like.
[20:24] Rick Hanton: If anyone knows any place where they can get really cheap color copies made, I'd like to hear about it.
[20:24] Rick Hanton: That would be a major expense.
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: when I get back to school, I can
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: or if basant can figure it out
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: it apparently perplexed ben...
[20:25] Rick Hanton: So far in terms of contact addresses and e-mails, I've covered most of the western U.S. (where SEDS is currently weaker)

[20:25] Joshua Nelson: Also might be able to find a company/organization print for free. That is how they printed the original SEDS documents/newsletters
[20:26] Rick Hanton: cool
[20:26] Ryan McLinko: shouldn't be hard...it's dirt cheap to them
[20:26] Rick Hanton: ok, well let me know what you find out Basant/Ryan
[20:26] Rick Hanton: I'd like to get this out as soon as I can so that people know about SpaceVision.
[20:27] Rick Hanton: I'm planning to include a SpaceVision flier an expansion packet and maybe a shorter SEDS flier of some sort.
[20:27] Rick Hanton: The spacevision flier is pretty good looking if you haven't seen it.
[20:27] Rick Hanton: I'll get it in the meeting notes later.
[20:28] Rick Hanton: Anyhow, I've been working my way across going state by state and investigating good people at universities to contact.
[20:28] Rick Hanton: Mostly whatever professors look good in engineering departments, but I've happened upon a few gems.
[20:28] Rick Hanton: Rocketry groups, professors and lecturers who are into that, etc.
[20:29] Rick Hanton: I may refine the list as it grows.
[20:30] Rick Hanton: Anyhow, that's all I have for now, besides a woot to Brice Russ for talking about starting SEDS at Ohio State I think.

[20:31] Grant Atkinson: i've been trying to get in contact with Utah State University SEDS over the last few days
[20:31] Grant Atkinson: they've been absent from the past few CoCs and did not reply to my request for updated chapter information
[20:31] Grant Atkinson: so far i haven't had any luck getting a hold of my contacts there
[20:32] Grant Atkinson: not a lot to report besides that
[20:32] Ryan McLinko: so what about the person that we were talking to before>?
[20:33] Grant Atkinson: i've been emailing Justin Koeln
[20:33] Grant Atkinson: USU's chapter rep
[20:33] Grant Atkinson: so far no luck
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: maybe he's out of the country for the summer or something like that
[20:33] Grant Atkinson: could be
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: or the month
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: ok, well if it continues as term begins, then we can begin to get worried
[20:34] Grant Atkinson: i've also been talking to Loretta Whitesides about potentially talking to my SEDS contacts to spread the word about Yuri's Night
