Action Items

• Joshua Nelson:contact Jim Vlop with a letter regarding the SEDS executive boards decision to remove access to all SEDS resouces
• Zeke Silva: Update links page on SEDS.org
• Joshua Sosa and Rick Hanton: work on developing a SEDS website template to distribute to new chapters

Meeting Minutes

• Jim Vlop
  • Executive board officer were briefed on the situation involving Jim Vlop a former Space Generation" member and his status with SEDS.
  • As an organization SEDS is willing to accept outside help, however it seems that he (Jim Vlop) does not see student opinions as equal to his own.
  • Joshua Nelson contacted an alumni and close friend of SEDS, and he suggested we send a letter to all of the organizations Jim Vlop has contacted explaining he has no affiliation with SEDS.

  • The SEDS executive board voted on a motion to send the proposed letter to the friends of SEDS who have been contacted by Jim Vlop which passed unanimously. Further the board also voted unanimously to remove any and all access Jim Vlop has to any SEDS resources immediately.

• IYA SEDS activities
  • Keri Bean informed us that she is getting up the educational video podcasts.
  • Keri also informed us that the IYA group wants SEDS to be in charge of "moon parties" for the launch of LRO and for LCROSS' impact

• SEDS Advertising on Facebook
  • SEDS would have the option to pay per click or per 1000 views
  • Proposed advertisements can be accessed here: http://www.public.iastate.edu/~hantonr/FacebookSEDSpt2.pdf http://www.public.iastate.edu/~hantonr/FacebookSEDS.pdf **Rick Hanton presented the proposed Facebook advertising banners and gave the board information on how the advertisement would work and how much it would cost
  • Cost is dependent on the keywords used, budget and, number of clicks.
  • All board members agreed that the facebook advertising would be beneficial at least on a trial basis

• • Board also discussed an advertising budget for new SEDS chapters to use on facebook to spark interest in their area.
  • Along with an advertising budget SEDS executive board members also discussed providing new chapters with a website template.
    • Rick Hanton and Joshua Sosa agreed to work on a standardized template to distribute to new SEDS chapters.

• Updating SEDS links on SEDS.org
  • Zeke Silva informed us of the broken or irrelevant links on the SEDS.org website
  • Joshua Nelson also informed board members that the internship and donations page are out of date.

Progress Reports

• Joshua Nelson
  • Sent an email to Jim Volp informing him of our decision
  • Deleted his accounts and blogs, and informed our administrators to delete any more they could find
  • Sent the approved email to The Planetary Society, Space Generation, and ISU

• Justin Graves
  • Got in touch with my predecessor.
  • Will switch the SEDS account under my name once a letter from my predecessor reaches me.
  • Alerted Ryan to change Dir of finance address to my address so that chapters and others will start sending SEDS-USA financial materials to me.
  • I have also been brought up to par with the status and info of 501c(3).
  • Finalizing the account deal and introducing myself to the FLTC.

  • In the process of updating links on SEDS.org
  • Working on making the executive board meeting minutes and transcripts easier to find on the SEDS wiki.
