[20:07] Grant Atkinson: i'm using another intern's right now

[20:08] Joshua Nelson: were these all submitted to your chapter-affairs@seds.org account?

[20:08] Grant Atkinson: yes

[20:08] Ryan McLinko: rly?

[20:08] Grant Atkinson: i think i've forwarded them all to yours

[20:08] Ryan McLinko: I didn't see any tickets of the sort

[20:08] Joshua Nelson: If so they can be grabbed by anyone with those ticket privs

[20:08] Grant Atkinson: wait

[20:08] Grant Atkinson: it seems like not

[20:09] Grant Atkinson: i forwarded kendra's, the first i recieved to Josh and Ryan

[20:09] Grant Atkinson: the other two i can do right now

[20:10] Joshua Nelson: please do, and someone can get them posted (Ryan, Rick, either of you have the time at the moment?)

[20:11] Rick Hanton: Playing TF2, but maybe in a few.

[20:11] Grant Atkinson: thanks

[20:11] Grant Atkinson: i'll forward them to y'all in a moment

[20:11] Grant Atkinson: sorry about the random computer troubles

[20:11] Rick Hanton: not sure I will have the access privliges.

[20:11] Joshua Nelson: jsut combine them into one email and email them to seds exec

[20:11] Ryan McLinko: video games during exec meeting...tsk

[20:11] Grant Atkinson: ok

[20:12] Ryan McLinko: let me know if you ahve priv issues

[20:12] Joshua Nelson: then Rick, could you post them on the Wiki and lock the thread? Probably the quickest/simplest method of posting

[20:12] Joshua Nelson: or if Ryan can help you set up a page on seds.org

[20:12] Joshua Nelson: thats fine too

[20:12] Rick Hanton: Ok, I'll do what I can in a min.

[20:12] Matt Cannella: sounds good

[20:12] Rick Hanton: Hopefully Josh has the old page there somewhere.

[20:12] Rick Hanton: I would hope.

[20:12] Grant Atkinson: sounds good

[20:13] Joshua Nelson: K. Grant, now what procedure were you seeing here? I thought that vacanncies were filled by the Exec Board, with CoC approval? Or am I mis-remembering the constitution?

[20:14] Grant Atkinson: i was under the impression that the CoC representatives would vote online

[20:14] Grant Atkinson: if i remember correctly that's what the constitution calls for

[20:14] Rick Hanton: No, I think Joshua is right.

[20:14] Rick Hanton: But, I also feel that changing that might be a good move.

[20:15] Rick Hanton: (now that we're half way through the process, of course)

[20:15] Basant Sagar: "Ballots shall be distributed two weeks after there is at least one qualified person who declares his candidacy for the vacant seat. All returned ballots shall be counted three weeks after the Director of Chapter Affairs has sent them out. "

[20:16] Rick Hanton: Are you looking at the current constitution?

[20:16] Basant Sagar: yeah

[20:16] Rick Hanton: Note: the one on the website is not current.

[20:16] Grant Atkinson: that's what the current constitution says

[20:16] Grant Atkinson: is a more current one on the wiki?

[20:16] Joshua Nelson: for which procedure

[20:16] Joshua Nelson: there are two

[20:17] Basant Sagar: the one that ryan emailer

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: one for vacanncies

[20:17] Ryan McLinko: we're going with the word doc I sent out as most current

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: one for elections

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: is that off the google doc?

[20:17] Ryan McLinko: the latest one I sent out on sun

[20:17] Ryan McLinko: which is the google doc

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: And Grant which procedure are you looking at? The General Elections, or 'in case of vacancies'? If I remember correctly there are two descriptions there.

[20:18] Basant Sagar: okay, so we can appoint one and get them ratified

[20:18] Grant Atkinson: i was looking under Article 2, section 6

[20:18] Grant Atkinson: the impeachment procedures

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: how are we planning on doing the appointment then?

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: voting among the exec board members?

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: I can't look at it at the moment... this computer is being weird about opening Word Documents

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: Rick, Ryan, can one of you check the procedure?

[20:20] Grant Atkinson: it sayts the Chair will appoint a candidate

[20:20] Grant Atkinson: it then must be ratified by a majority of the Exec Board and CoC

[20:21] Ryan McLinko: roger that

[20:21] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:21] Joshua Nelson: And make a note we need to streamline this bloody document.

[20:21] Joshua Nelson: lol

[20:21] Ryan McLinko: well, that was the action item from last week ;)

[20:21] Ryan McLinko: rick sent some good edits in

[20:21] Rick Hanton: Ok,

[20:21] Rick Hanton: Hold 1

[20:21] Joshua Nelson: Ok, I will read their platforms, and 'appoint

[20:22] Grant Atkinson: alright

[20:22] Grant Atkinson: emailing in a moment

[20:22] Rick Hanton: The reason that I had an issue is that both the constitution and the bylaws have a procedure.

[20:22] Joshua Nelson: email them to them all

[20:22] Joshua Nelson: different procedures?

[20:22] Rick Hanton: So technically the constitution (as stated above) has precidence.

[20:22] Rick Hanton: But, the bylaws state: The Chair will appoint a candidate to the position in contention. This appointment must then be ratified by a majority vote of both the Executive Board and Council of Chapters.

[20:23] Joshua Nelson: The Constitution calling for a CoC vote?

[20:23] Grant Atkinson: the new one does

[20:23] Grant Atkinson: hold on

[20:23] Joshua Nelson: Hmmm....

[20:24] Grant Atkinson: can't talk for a minute

[20:24] Rick Hanton: Yeah, the constitution is as Grant quotes above.

[20:24] Joshua Nelson: which time 'above'?

[20:24] Rick Hanton: Calling for CoC ballot send-out and count.

[20:24] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:25] Rick Hanton: So, we will need to send ballots or do that via the website.

[20:25] Joshua Nelson: Ok, Constitution takes priority

[20:25] Rick Hanton: Being that some of the reps are very adamant about that.

[20:25] Joshua Nelson: We can do virtual 'ballots' via email

[20:25] Joshua Nelson: emailed to the chapter affairs email address

[20:25] Joshua Nelson: so there is accountability

[20:25] Rick Hanton: We talked about using the website last time with Josh Sosa, but that works.

[20:26] Joshua Nelson: Can it be done in a way that is easy to assure lack of fraud? Email is just the easiest way I know of doing it.

[20:26] Matt Cannella: are we sure its back to normal?

[20:26] Joshua Nelson: and something that can be implemented NOW?

[20:26] Matt Cannella: i had trouble posting the NOVA a couple days ago

[20:27] Joshua Nelson: the website? or email?

[20:27] Matt Cannella: website

[20:27] Rick Hanton: Hmm.

[20:27] Rick Hanton: Did you tell Josh Sosa?

[20:27] Josh Sosa: with the site we were going to assign special keys for each chapter and then send the key via email to them, once a vote is cast using the key it is removed and that chapter is marked as having voted

[20:28] Grant Atkinson: back

[20:28] Joshua Nelson: Is that something already in place and ready to go?

[20:28] Matt Cannella: yea

[20:28] Matt Cannella: he posted it for me

[20:28] Basant Sagar: that sounds better

[20:28] Matt Cannella: i agree

[20:28] Josh Sosa: it's not something ready at the moment but isn't very difficult to do

[20:29] Joshua Nelson: how long? because while it would be nice to have that in the future, email is something we can do NOW

[20:30] Josh Sosa: I can have it ready by the end of today or tomorrow, but if it's more urgent email may be better

[20:30] Basant Sagar: we should stick to secure practices :P

[20:31] Rick Hanton: Basant, for future reference, while fine for this purpose, e-mail is totally unsecure.

[20:31] Josh Sosa: unless you sign it

[20:31] Basant Sagar: yup

[20:31] Joshua Nelson: Ok...

[20:31] Joshua Nelson: How about this

[20:32] Joshua Nelson: Wednesday we send out the platforms and method of submitting ballots. If Josh's system is ready to go and he is confident it will work, we use that.

[20:32] Joshua Nelson: If not, we use email?

[20:32] Joshua Nelson: Opinions before vote?

[20:32] Ryan McLinko: sounds like a plan

[20:32] Rick Hanton: yup

[20:32] Grant Atkinson: sounds good

[20:32] Matt Cannella: i think its the best we can do in the short time we have

[20:32] Ryan McLinko: well, there's half of a vote right there

[20:33] Basant Sagar: Justin is modifying email headers as we speak :P

[20:34] Joshua Nelson: All in favor of the plan I outlined above? (Aye/Nay/Abstain)

[20:34] Ryan McLinko: i

[20:34] Rick Hanton: aye

[20:34] Grant Atkinson: aye

[20:34] Basant Sagar: aye

[20:34] Josh Sosa: aye

[20:34] Matt Cannella: aye

[20:34] Justin Graves: aye

[20:35] Keri Bean: eye

[20:35] Joshua Nelson: Motion carries

[20:35] Joshua Nelson: So Josh, work on your new system

[20:35] Joshua Nelson: if you could send an email when it is done, then let Grant know the procedure

[20:35] Josh Sosa: ok

[20:35] Joshua Nelson: Grant, send out the platforms and procedure on Wednesday, if Josh's system is not up and running, use email.

[20:35] Joshua Nelson: Everyone good?

[20:36] Matt Cannella: yup

[20:36] Grant Atkinson: sounds like a plan

[20:37] Joshua Nelson: K, next up, Rick wanted to talk about the seds.org wordpress blogs

[20:37] Joshua Nelson: Rick?

[20:37] Rick Hanton: Well, I thought that if I had a second, I would show off some of my weekend work.

[20:38] Rick Hanton: For quick explination (maybe again?) I have worked with Josh S. to set up a setup on seds.org

[20:38] Rick Hanton: so that we can add a huge number of separate blog sites, all controlled by one overall admin.

[20:38] Rick Hanton: Each has local admins as well, etc, etc.

[20:38] Rick Hanton: Anyhow, my test blogs you can see are at seds.org/isss and seds.org/example

[20:39] Rick Hanton: There is also another theme or two that I modded for SEDS.

[20:39] Rick Hanton: Hold on a sec.

[20:40] Joshua Nelson: They look nice Rick, need some tiny tweaks, but look great :-)

[20:40] Rick Hanton: http://seds.org/umseds/

[20:40] Rick Hanton: That's 3 of the 4 themes.

[20:41] Rick Hanton: Yeah, I've notice some tweaks they need, but as you can see on http://seds.org/isss, I set it up so that if a seds group stores their photos on the SEDS photo gallery, they can easily post them to the blog.

[20:41] Rick Hanton: Each group on the photos page there is a single line of code that you set up in about 1 sec that pulls the pictures in.

[20:41] Grant Atkinson: nice

[20:41] Rick Hanton: Also did some other tweaks.

[20:41] Grant Atkinson: looks good

[20:42] Rick Hanton: Anyhow, the main point is to make having a web presence easy for new chapters as well as old ones if they prefer.

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: *nods*

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: I'd also like to extend it to our international chapters as well, if that is easy

[20:42] Rick Hanton: Yeah, it would be simple.

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: Give them some free help

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: :-)

[20:42] Rick Hanton: The only drawbacks is some restrictions on what the groups can do vs a regular wordpress.

[20:43] Rick Hanton: You can't add your own themes, or plugins, but it is simple to do if you have access to the seds server backend.

[20:43] Rick Hanton: (Aka, Josh, me, Ryan could do it)

[20:43] Joshua Nelson: *nods* well this can help the lesser advanced chapters for the moment

[20:43] Rick Hanton: yup, so any thoughts, suggestions?

[20:45] Grant Atkinson: looks pretty good, i think

[20:45] Joshua Nelson: At the moment I've got none. We might want to as time goes on offer more templates

[20:45] Joshua Nelson: but lets see how successful the program is first ;-)

[20:45] Rick Hanton: yup

[20:46] Rick Hanton: Also as a quick aside, I got contacted by a student in Idaho who is starting a chapter.

[20:46] Joshua Nelson: Good

[20:46] Grant Atkinson: nice

[20:46] Joshua Nelson: Any further meeting items tonight?

[20:47] Grant Atkinson: none here

[20:47] Matt Cannella: none here

[20:48] Joshua Nelson: Grant is going on SpaceVidcast on Thursday

[20:48] Joshua Nelson: Would some people like to go over with him in a coaching meeting

[20:48] Joshua Nelson: points to cover about SEDS?

[20:49] Rick Hanton: Sure.

[20:49] Rick Hanton: Meeting over then?

[20:50] Matt Cannella: Grant, you could mention the NOVA if they wanted a more day to day idea of what SEDS people do

[20:50] Joshua Nelson: What time would you guys like to meet?

[20:50] Grant Atkinson: sure

[20:50] Joshua Nelson: Wednesday?

[20:50] Grant Atkinson: wednesday should work

[20:50] Rick Hanton: Hey btw, tell me people if I post anything too far-off from SEDS stuff on the seds twitter account.

[20:51] Joshua Nelson: just make sure it is 100% SEDS

[20:51] Joshua Nelson: :-P

[20:51] Grant Atkinson: lol

[20:51] Joshua Nelson: then you won't be too far off ;-)

[20:51] Rick Hanton: Yeah, I try to make sure it is at least closely associated.

[20:52] Rick Hanton: Like the last one from IYA.

[20:52] Joshua Nelson: Ok, so lets have a coaching meeting for Grant

[20:52] Joshua Nelson: Wednesday, same time and place

[20:52] Joshua Nelson: if nothing further, meeting adjourned.
