[20:05] Joshua Nelson: Ok, looks like Ryan is still deep in the clutches of the internet

[20:05] Joshua Nelson: Getting started

[20:05] Joshua Nelson: First up, impeachment proceedings against Zeke Silva

[20:06] Joshua Nelson: As mentioned last week, I wanted to give Zeke an additional week to respond to my emails/phone calls

[20:06] Joshua Nelson: I've yet to receive any word from him

[20:06] Joshua Nelson: Has anyone else present had any contact with Zeke within the last month?

[20:06] Matt Cannella: none here

[20:06] Josh Sosa: nope

[20:06] Grant Atkinson: i haven't heard anything from him

[20:06] Keri Bean: no

[20:06] Basant Sagar: nope

[20:06] Justin Graves: no

[20:07] Rick Hanton: no

[20:08] Joshua Nelson: In which case, following the constitution, I call for a no confidence vote in Zeke. (To be followed by a vote on if an investigation is necessary)

[20:08] Joshua Nelson: All in favor of beggining impeachment proceedings against Zeke? (Aye/Nay/Abstain)

[20:08] Keri Bean: aye

[20:08] Grant Atkinson: aye

[20:08] Justin Graves: aye

[20:08] Basant Sagar: Aye

[20:08] Josh Sosa: aye

[20:08] Matt Cannella: abstain

[20:09] Matt Cannella: oh wait, scratch that, aye

[20:09] Basant Sagar: lol

[20:09] Rick Hanton: aye

[20:09] Joshua Nelson: aye

[20:09] *** Ryan McLinko has joined the chat.

[20:10] Ryan McLinko: sry guys...getting into interwebs at work (via aim) was more difficult than I thought it would be

[20:10] Ryan McLinko: i

[20:10] Joshua Nelson: Vote carries, 9-0-0

[20:11] Joshua Nelson: Next, I open debate as to if an investigation into Zeke's inactivity is necessary

[20:11] Joshua Nelson: Opinions for/against before we vote?

[20:11] Grant Atkinson: seems reasonable

[20:12] Grant Atkinson: that we should find out what's been going on

[20:12] Basant Sagar: i dont know him

[20:12] Ryan McLinko: what do you mean by "investigation"

[20:12] Rick Hanton: How are we to investigate if he won't respond to contact attempts?

[20:12] Basant Sagar: he hardly ever expressed any views at exec board meetings

[20:12] Matt Cannella: do we have a phone number for him?

[20:12] Joshua Nelson: By the constitution (at least my interpretation of it) if we warrant it necessary

[20:12] Matt Cannella: has anyone tried direct conversation (like phone or IM?)

[20:13] Joshua Nelson: we appoint several people to 'investigate' his inactivity, and then present that at the next exec board meeting or CoC

[20:13] Rick Hanton: What is the step after that?

[20:13] Joshua Nelson: CoC votes

[20:13] Joshua Nelson: 2/3 majority needed

[20:14] Grant Atkinson: what is the alternative if we decide not to investigate?

[20:14] Rick Hanton: So can we investigate and report findings to CoC and then they vote in the same meeting or does it need to be separate?

[20:14] Joshua Nelson: Just goes directly to CoC I believe

[20:14] Joshua Nelson: the constitution is horribly written in this regard

[20:14] Ryan McLinko: I think the explanation is rpetty simple: he's a flake

[20:14] Joshua Nelson: I believe the google copy is the same for the impeachment section

[20:15] Grant Atkinson: given that he's been unresponsive, i think the case is pretty clear for removing him from office

[20:15] Josh Sosa: I dont think it's terribly necessary, you did try contacting him for a couple weeks

[20:15] Grant Atkinson: what makes me think an investigation might be good though

[20:15] Grant Atkinson: is that it might be more convincing to the CoC then

[20:15] Joshua Nelson: To answer the question, I called his cellphone twice and emailed him once

[20:15] Grant Atkinson: that we explored all possible avenues

[20:16] Matt Cannella: has anyone tried phone or other immediate contact? or just email?

[20:16] Matt Cannella: ok, we did call his phone.. sorry

[20:16] Matt Cannella: lol

[20:16] Josh Sosa: did you try facebook private message?

[20:16] Ryan McLinko: why do you think we need to justify to coc

[20:16] Ryan McLinko: it's not like they are going to shoot this down

[20:16] Rick Hanton: They can be finiky.

[20:16] Grant Atkinson: you never know what CoC will do

[20:16] Grant Atkinson: no guarantees

[20:16] Basant Sagar: haha

[20:16] Grant Atkinson: but given all the contact attempts i think the case is pretty convincing as it is

[20:16] Rick Hanton: But, if we did call him a few times, what more can we do?

[20:16] Matt Cannella: well, i agree maybe one last facebook message. then we have multiple avenues of tried contact that we can present

[20:17] Rick Hanton: Show up at his door?

[20:17] Josh Sosa: he does post on his facebook every day

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: All in favor of launching and investigation into Zeke's inactivity? Aye/Nay/Abstain

[20:17] Josh Sosa: nay

[20:17] Grant Atkinson: nay

[20:17] Basant Sagar: nay

[20:17] Keri Bean: nay

[20:17] Justin Graves: nay

[20:17] Joshua Nelson: abstain

[20:17] Rick Hanton: nay

[20:17] Matt Cannella: abstain

[20:18] Ryan McLinko: nay

[20:18] Joshua Nelson: 0-7-2

[20:18] Rick Hanton: Could we also request a last check with him via facebook?

[20:18] Matt Cannella: i concur

[20:18] Ryan McLinko: good job kids, we actually rejected a proposal ;)

[20:18] Keri Bean: tee hee :-)

[20:18] Basant Sagar: haha

[20:18] Grant Atkinson: lol

[20:18] Joshua Nelson: Very well, Could someone volunteer to contact him on facebook, email, and phone?

[20:18] Joshua Nelson: Perhaps Grant?

[20:18] Basant Sagar: he has already been contacted by facebook

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: i'll send him a PM

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: and write on his wall

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: Mention that it is now on the agenda for the June 24th CoC

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: see if that prompts aything

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: yeah

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: and that he has the option of attending to defend himself if desired

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: ok

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: or talking to the Executive board before that

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: We have a meeting of Exec on the 22nd

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: anything else i should mention?

[20:19] Joshua Nelson: Thats all I've got...

[20:20] Grant Atkinson: alright

[20:20] Joshua Nelson: Ok so the impeachment of Zeke Silva has been added to the Agenda of CoC, June 24th.

[20:20] Joshua Nelson: Next up, Dan Pastuf has been waiting in the peanut gallery patiently

[20:21] Joshua Nelson: Dan would like to present his preliminary plans for starting up SEDS regional coordination

[20:21] Joshua Nelson: Dan?

[20:21] Dan Pastuf: First off I'd like to thank the board for the opportunity. I've prepared the following document for review.

[20:21] Dan Pastuf: Here's the current draft proposal: http://tinyurl.com/sedsregstu (Proposal draft can be found on file in SEDS Wiki)

[20:22] Dan Pastuf: basically, as discussed at the live CoC and tweaked a little, the plan i set up basically has the CoC nationally meeting monthly, and the regional CoC, this case CoC:NE meeting monthly, two weeks after regular CoC

[20:22] Keri Bean: It's not letting me read it

[20:22] Justin Graves: me neither

[20:22] Grant Atkinson: it says i don't have access to it

[20:22] Joshua Nelson: Dan, you need to send people invites

[20:23] Joshua Nelson: to read the google doc, or set permissions to "Anyone can view"

[20:23] Dan Pastuf: hmm, ok matt didnt have any problem, but must be cause he had access.

[20:23] Dan Pastuf: one second

[20:27] Matt Cannella: sorry

[20:27] Matt Cannella: im here

[20:28] Joshua Nelson: There

[20:28] Joshua Nelson: it should have gone out to Exec Board listserv

[20:28] Joshua Nelson: you should all have it in your emails

[20:28] Dan Pastuf: ok sorry for the problem there

[20:28] Joshua Nelson: Want to give us the quick summary Dan?

[20:28] Rick Hanton: That might not work.

[20:28] Joshua Nelson: Then people can read the document and ask any questions at a later date?

[20:29] Dan Pastuf: the plan also consists of the plan to establish a regional coordinator position, who would locally coordinate the regional CoC

[20:29] Dan Pastuf: and also to help build inter-chapter communication

[20:29] Dan Pastuf: as well as serve as a sort of local arm of the eboard

[20:30] Dan Pastuf: the poistion would be an observer to the eboard as currently crafted, and would be decided upon first at SpaceVisions and then perminatly voted on at (at least for the northeast) regional conferences

[20:30] Dan Pastuf: Sadly I havn't had the time to fully get updates from other NE SEDS chapters, so this is mostly one sided so far.

[20:30] Dan Pastuf: This will affect the following chapters as ive been able to tell: UB, MIT, BU, GWU, Princeton, and Olin, along with any new chapters in region I (seen in map at the top)

[20:31] Dan Pastuf: for the NE proposal

[20:32] Dan Pastuf: so as you can see, the document is mainly focused on ideas to go towards in the northeast, but could be easily adopted for other regions

[20:33] Dan Pastuf: (regions are set up in the by-laws already)

[20:34] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:34] Dan Pastuf: coincidentlyIll also note that the ghost of darrel/zombie darrel has been editing the document for the last week or so according to google, although what exactly that means i dont know.

[20:34] Joshua Nelson: So you were proposing that the regional coordinator first be decided at Space Vision 2009?

[20:34] Rick Hanton: lol

[20:34] Dan Pastuf: correct, although the first few meetings of the regional CoC could occur before that

[20:34] Dan Pastuf: the election would take place there anyways

[20:35] Matt Cannella: i like the idea

[20:35] Matt Cannella: i think it can streamline national CoC

[20:35] Matt Cannella: 's

[20:35] Rick Hanton: So what is the proposed tie-in between the regional coordinators and/or CoCs to SEDS-USA?

[20:35] Joshua Nelson: I think we should write in some sort of official 'checking in' with national

[20:36] Grant Atkinson: we coudl incorporate that into the national CoC

[20:36] Joshua Nelson: like have the coordinators serve on a committee under the expansion or chapter affairs directors

[20:36] Dan Pastuf: ok. Basically all i had was an observer to the E-Board for the time being, but ill leave that question to the board

[20:36] Rick Hanton: Sure.

[20:36] Rick Hanton: I was pondering something like having the coordinator at exec meetings or some exec meetings.

[20:36] Rick Hanton: er, coordinator-s

[20:37] Ryan McLinko: wouldn't want them at all

[20:37] Joshua Nelson: lol

[20:37] Rick Hanton: but I like the sub-committee or sub-meetings.

[20:37] Ryan McLinko: bigger meetings get, less efficient they are

[20:37] Joshua Nelson: You're heartless Ryoda

[20:37] Rick Hanton: lol

[20:37] Joshua Nelson: ;-)

[20:37] Joshua Nelson: But yeah

[20:37] Basant Sagar: lol

[20:37] Dan Pastuf: like i said, left to the board to decide that organization within national

[20:38] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:38] Joshua Nelson: Any more questions or feedback for Dan?

[20:38] Rick Hanton: One thought:

[20:38] Rick Hanton: You call SpaceVision SpaceVisions at least once in there.

[20:38] Rick Hanton: It doesn't do so well in the plural FYI.

[20:39] Rick Hanton: Any cool name for the NE conference yet?

[20:39] Dan Pastuf: ok, will make that correction

[20:39] Dan Pastuf: not really

[20:39] Ryan McLinko: "spacevisions" just sounds like english fail

[20:39] Dan Pastuf: had one idea for "SEDS Spacetastical Meeting of Might, Northeast Region"

[20:39] Dan Pastuf: but kinda long

[20:40] Dan Pastuf: rather sugestion

[20:40] Grant Atkinson: lol

[20:40] Dan Pastuf: thoughts on the proposal?

[20:40] Dan Pastuf: concerns?

[20:40] Grant Atkinson: looks like a good start to me

[20:41] Rick Hanton: Just the tieing in to nationals, but otherwise good.

[20:41] Joshua Nelson: Ok, well lets wrap that item for right now. If you guys have any concerns or feedback, email them to Dan

[20:41] Joshua Nelson: or lets have a Q/A next meeting as well

[20:41] Joshua Nelson: if Dan's available?

[20:41] Dan Pastuf: should be

[20:41] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:42] Matt Cannella: sounds good

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: ok

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: next item

[20:42] Joshua Nelson: NewSpace and SEDS

[20:43] Joshua Nelson: Ryan, any chapters report in with an offical number of members going?

[20:43] Joshua Nelson: I have a few emails out to some volunteers asking if they are SEDS and what chapter (some were confusing in their emails)

[20:45] Joshua Nelson: Ryan?

[20:45] Ryan McLinko: josh, I haven't bee getting any since I put you as poc

[20:45] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:45] Joshua Nelson: just checking on that

[20:45] Ryan McLinko: how many have you seen

[20:46] Joshua Nelson: about 6 chapters if I count James Pura as UCSD

[20:46] Ryan McLinko: and number of people from those chapters?

[20:46] Joshua Nelson: UCF, MIT, UofA, UCSD, Caltech, and one other...

[20:47] Joshua Nelson: thats the question at the moment, waiting for some responses. Some people claimed "SEDS" but didnt specify chapter

[20:47] Joshua Nelson: so making sure they're actually SEDS

[20:47] Joshua Nelson: right now about 10 SEDS people, not counting Darrell, you, and myself

[20:48] Joshua Nelson: thats without the iffies

[20:48] Joshua Nelson: So we'll have the table, but I think it'll be relatively low key like last year

[20:48] Ryan McLinko: ok, we should probably send out a follow-up

[20:48] Joshua Nelson: with just the SEDS/ISU dinner

[20:49] Joshua Nelson: yeah

[20:49] Joshua Nelson: Given this is just a you me convo at the moment

[20:49] Joshua Nelson: Lets wrap this item for now and I'll talk to you after meeting

[20:49] Joshua Nelson: Keri B, your items up

[20:49] Keri Bean: okie dokie

[20:50] Keri Bean: so the last few weeks, I've been helping the incoming freshman in meteorology, and both the students and their parents said it's a great relief to be able to talk to someone who knows what's going on, etc.

[20:51] Keri Bean: so I'd like to set up the same sort of program between us college SEDS members and the high school and younger kids (who may not necessarily be in SEDS)

[20:51] Keri Bean: so members from various chapters in different majors make a short little profile on the SEDS website, and kids can contact us for advice on that school/program

[20:52] Keri Bean: any comments or concerns?

[20:52] Grant Atkinson: sounds like a good outreach project

[20:52] Josh Sosa: what kind of profile?

[20:52] Matt Cannella: sounds good

[20:52] Basant Sagar: good idea

[20:52] Rick Hanton: So we have profiles of our types of majors sorted by school?

[20:52] Joshua Nelson: One, who would set this up, given you've already expressed that you're really overworked at the moment

[20:52] Joshua Nelson: ?

[20:52] Grant Atkinson: are you planning on centrally locating this?

[20:53] Grant Atkinson: as in all profiles on the SEDS-USA website?

[20:53] Basant Sagar: can we have formal list of "SEDS Space Mentors" on our website

[20:53] Grant Atkinson: or more locally?

[20:53] Joshua Nelson: lol

[20:53] Joshua Nelson: ok

[20:53] Joshua Nelson: lets slow down

[20:53] Joshua Nelson: let Keri answer some questions

[20:53] Keri Bean: @Josh I can do it July, and it's unlikely it'll get really done until people return to school

[20:53] Keri Bean: @Rick that's probably the best way to do it

[20:53] Keri Bean: @Grant I was planning it on the USA website so it'd reach the most students

[20:54] Keri Bean: @Basant that's the plan

[20:54] Keri Bean: ok

[20:54] Keri Bean: haha

[20:54] Joshua Nelson: next round.... go!

[20:54] Rick Hanton: So would we try to make a second database site on our server for it?

[20:54] Josh Sosa: er, what kind of profiles? using something we already have, or something different?

[20:54] Rick Hanton: Maybe where you go find a major and then can drill down per school to get even more info?

[20:55] Keri Bean: Well, going off Rick's idea, it'd be sorted by major, then by school

[20:55] Joshua Nelson: you might want to talk to Josh S about incorperating this with our preexisting profile system and resume database

[20:55] Keri Bean: and by profile, maybe just a small pic and a one paragraph biography?

[20:55] Joshua Nelson: so we dont have multiple people working at cross purposes

[20:55] Keri Bean: yeah

[20:55] Joshua Nelson: Could we simply have the links from the main site go to the SEDS.org profile of the person?

[20:56] Josh Sosa: that sounds good

[20:56] Joshua Nelson: would that work for you Keri?

[20:56] Keri Bean: yeah

[20:56] Joshua Nelson: then we don't have multiple competing databases

[20:56] Josh Sosa: to clarify, for per school, do you mean high schools or colleges, and with or without seds chapters?

[20:57] Keri Bean: well, the actual mentors will be SEDS college students

[20:57] Rick Hanton: I was thinking that if you want this to be really cool and widely used, you open it outside of seds member schools, but only within certain bounds.

[20:58] Grant Atkinson: might be a good recruiting tool if we did that

[20:58] Grant Atkinson: target specific schools that are good candidates for forming chapters

[20:58] Grant Atkinson: and show them what SEDS students are doing

[20:58] Rick Hanton: Not us targeting schools.

[20:58] Keri Bean: Right. The mentors will be SEDS students, but anyone, SEDS or not, could get advice, etc.

[20:58] Rick Hanton: If they come to us, we can let them do what we are doing.

[20:58] Basant Sagar: The mentors will be good "Brand Ambassadors" for SEDS

[20:59] Joshua Nelson: k

[20:59] Joshua Nelson: so it sounds like there is mostly positive feedback for the idea

[20:59] Keri Bean: yeah, we can highlight students doing neat things (UofA telescope, Daedalus, etc.)

[20:59] Joshua Nelson: All in favor of Keri pursuing the SEDS mentor program in July? (Aye/Nay/Abstain)

[20:59] Josh Sosa: aye

[20:59] Basant Sagar: aye

[20:59] Joshua Nelson: aye

[20:59] Justin Graves: aye

[20:59] Grant Atkinson: aye

[21:00] Rick Hanton: aye

[21:00] Ryan McLinko: i

[21:00] Matt Cannella: aye

[21:00] Keri Bean: aye!

[21:00] Joshua Nelson: 9-0-0

[21:00] Joshua Nelson: motion carries

[21:00] Joshua Nelson: ok, last up, Matt

[21:00] Joshua Nelson: go

[21:00] Matt Cannella: Alright. So, I am about to launch an effort to rekindle the University of Alabama Huntsville chapter of SEDS. As I am here at UAH this summer with my academy at Marshall, I figured I'd be in the best position for this. I guess I just wanted to brainstorm as to ideas for how to get this going.

[21:00] Matt Cannella: I have already started putting up some fliers around campus, and I am working with a lead at Orion Propulsion (who I met at ISDC), to see if we can get Mike Griffin, a newly appointed professor here, to be the faculty advisor. The biggest issue I have is that my free time is at a minimum, because I have yet to experience a work-day less than 12 hours here with academy. I guess i was just making sure everyone would support if i just put fliers around with the email's of other SEDS positions other than just mine

[21:01] Keri Bean: I have a friend doing mech and aero engineering there

[21:01] Matt Cannella: and if anyone else has any contacts here at UAH, or any other ideas

[21:01] Keri Bean: I could see if she's interested

[21:01] Matt Cannella: definitely!

[21:01] Rick Hanton: UAH students are awesome to begin with.

[21:01] Matt Cannella: i just think getting an ex-NASA administrator on board would definitely be a good thing for SEDS

[21:01] Rick Hanton: I am happy to get e-mailed by anyone wanting to help form up a chapter.

[21:01] Matt Cannella: kk, thanks

[21:02] Matt Cannella: thats it, i wanted to keep it breif

[21:03] Joshua Nelson: k

[21:03] Joshua Nelson: Any last minute items?

[21:04] Grant Atkinson: none here

[21:04] Joshua Nelson: in which case, meeting adjourned.
