SEDS-USA Executive Board Meeting, June 22, 2009

Meeting Minutes

• Discussion of SEDS regions by Dan Pastuf
  • Map by Dan at Google Docs will be changed to have closer groupings of chapters and 5 regions instead of 6.
  • The plan for SEDS regions will be updated and presented on Wednesday to the Council of Chapters.
  • Decided that the Regional leaders will meet under the Director of Chapter Affairs and the Expansion and High School directors will also be expected to attend those meetings.
• Outline of CoC meeting by Grant
  • First is impeachment procedure for SEDS Secretary position.
  • Regional plans for SEDS.
  • SEDS Mentors plans (Keri).
  • Chapter updates (optional for chapters)
• Grant Atkinson will be appearing on SpaceVidcast in a few weeks.
  • Who is SEDS?, SpaceVision, the SEDS network, and starting chapters will be priority topics to mention.
  • May mention some notable grads of SEDS who went on to high-ranking positions.
• SSPI looking at forming a MOU with SEDS
  • Exec members will look deeper at this for discussion next meeting.

Progress Report

• Rick Hanton (Expansion)
  • Contacted New Mexico, Illinois, and New York Space Grants. Got some exposure at Spaceport America groundbreaking from that.
  • Worked some more with Michigan SEDS and the Saint Louis (SLU) chapter. SLU plans to get set up as a national chapter very soon.
  • Contacted Stephanie Herpich at Kansas University about starting a SEDS chapter and she responded with enthusiasm (thanks for the name D. Cain).
• Justin Graves (Finance)
  • Met the lawyer who worked on 501c3 with Ryan.
  • Digesting information gained from that meeting and will contact the lawyer back at the end of the week.
  • Looking for other projects to help out with.
