[20:07] Grant Atkinson: the first big ticket item was the impeachment of Zeke
[20:08] Grant Atkinson: ultimately we decided to follow the letter of the constitution and remove him from office since he hasn't been responsive in two months' time
[20:08] Grant Atkinson: we also discussed Keri B's SEDS mentor idea
[20:08] Grant Atkinson: with varying degrees of enthusiasm from the chapters
[20:09] Grant Atkinson: there was a lively discussion of the SEDS regional plan
[20:09] Grant Atkinson: with several members volunteering to be part of a committee to research implementing the plan
[20:09] Grant Atkinson: and several chapters listed notable updates as well in the updates/news segment
[20:10] Grant Atkinson: to elaborate on the committee
[20:10] Grant Atkinson: the following members volunteered for it
[20:10] Grant Atkinson: Eric Peters of MIT
[20:10] Grant Atkinson: David DeBoth of Florida Tech
[20:10] Grant Atkinson: and Nick Day of University of Buffalo
[20:10] Grant Atkinson: any questions/comments on CoC?
[20:11] Rick Hanton: So what is the timeline on a new Secretary?
[20:11] Rick Hanton: Anything in mind as of yet?
[20:12] Grant Atkinson: a few members have contacted me saying they'd be interested in running
[20:12] Ryan McLinko: how many?
[20:12] Grant Atkinson: three
[20:12] Rick Hanton: :-)
[20:12] Ryan McLinko: cool
[20:12] Ryan McLinko: did we set out a timeline
[20:13] Grant Atkinson: not yet
[20:13] Ryan McLinko: ok, let's go ahead and take care of that now then
[20:13] Grant Atkinson: but the SEDS constitution says to send ballots within two weeks of the first qualified candidate going forward
[20:13] Grant Atkinson: so we could send out ballots a week from friday or thereabouts
[20:13] Rick Hanton: ok
[20:14] Grant Atkinson: two of the candidates who contacted me wanted more info on the specific duties of secretary
[20:14] Grant Atkinson: i was wondering if there's a way to find the descriptions that were up before the spacevision elections
[20:14] Ryan McLinko: is there any reason to wait longer than, say, friday
[20:14] Ryan McLinko: to send out the ballots or do you think we can't resolve candidates by then
[20:14] Grant Atkinson: unless we think there will be more candidates, no
[20:14] Grant Atkinson: i think the interested people have contacted me already
[20:14] Ryan McLinko: I agree
[20:15] Rick Hanton: You could pick Friday as a last call day
[20:15] Grant Atkinson: but i could send out a notice to say to declare candidacy by friday
[20:15] Grant Atkinson: yeah
[20:15] Ryan McLinko: I also want to make sure that whoever gets it has as much time until nov
[20:15] Grant Atkinson: right
[20:15] Ryan McLinko: sounds good
[20:15] Ryan McLinko: and grant; you've taken the action to compile a nice description, right?
[20:15] Grant Atkinson: not yet but i'll compile that and respond to those who asked for one
[20:15] Ryan McLinko: and add that into the email (which you'll send out today or tomorrow?)

[20:16] Grant Atkinson: how are we going to want to send out the ballots?
[20:16] Grant Atkinson: i don't think the SEDS constitution specifies
[20:16] Grant Atkinson: it might be easiest to do it electronically
[20:16] Grant Atkinson: say set up a voting site at seds.org where chapter reps can go and vote
[20:16] Ryan McLinko: I would avoid snail mail at all costs
[20:17] Grant Atkinson: yeah
[20:17] Ryan McLinko: josh, are you up to setting up a little ballot script
[20:17] Josh Sosa: sure
[20:18] Ryan McLinko: ok, so send out the link to exec when you're done and grant can include that in the email on fri

[20:19] Grant Atkinson: not since April I believe
[20:19] Ryan McLinko: ok, might be good to get that as an item then
[20:19] Grant Atkinson: we were planning on having one this last CoC but Kyle had a conflict at the last minute
[20:19] Grant Atkinson: so that woudl be a good item for next time
[20:20] Ryan McLinko: ok what else
[20:21] Grant Atkinson: nothing that i know of so far
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: (in terms of the next agenda item for tonight): we may have some constitutional amendments
[20:21] Grant Atkinson: has anything come up in the last few days?
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: also, a report from the regional committe
[20:21] Ryan McLinko: (sp)
[20:22] Grant Atkinson: yaeh
[20:22] Grant Atkinson: that'll add some substance to the meeting
[20:22] Ryan McLinko: and put a fire under the committee
[20:22] Grant Atkinson: indeed

[20:23] Keri Hancock: There are a few things in theconstitution that I would like to look at. Article 2 section 3.2 seems a little out of date and
[20:23] Ryan McLinko: yeah, we're getting to that next
[20:23] Ryan McLinko: and while we're on that, volunteers to be exec board rep
[20:23] Basant Sagar: when is the next meet

[20:24] Ryan McLinko: ok, next up: constitutional changes
[20:24] Ryan McLinko: I've sent you guys a word version of the constitution and bylaws
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: so that we can each mark it up for next week
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: but I wanted to take some time now to see if there were things that people wanted to discuss already
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: I can name a few
[20:25] Ryan McLinko: but Keri, go ahead:
[20:27] Keri Hancock: well, I think the jobs in the section I mentioned before are a little out of date
[20:27] Ryan McLinko: ok, it appears that I may have forgotten to attach the docs; so resending
[20:28] Keri Hancock: also, CoC brought up that in the constitution anyone who doesn't send in updates for 2 months is automatically off board
[20:28] Keri Hancock: I think that needs to be changed, since some don't have anything to report for a while
[20:29] Basant Sagar: they can send "We still exist and had meetings" sort of update
[20:29] Ryan McLinko: (and come to meetings for that matter)
[20:30] Rick Hanton: Maybe change to more about being at meetings.
[20:30] Rick Hanton: But updates are good too!
[20:30] Rick Hanton: (P.S. Send me updates!)
[20:30] Grant Atkinson: changing it to meetings would be a better view of actual participation
[20:30] Grant Atkinson: not that i'm bashing on updates or anything
[20:30] Keri Hancock: agreed
[20:31] Ryan McLinko: ok; keri go ahead and add the proposed mod into your update for next week
[20:31] Ryan McLinko: (ie in track changes on the doc)
[20:31] Basant Sagar: i havent sent any updates for a long time :P
[20:31] Rick Hanton: (eveyone knows how to do track changes right?)
[20:32] Basant Sagar: but i've been actively working nevertheless
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: ok, one other point is obviously the regional chapters: matt can add something in about the regional setup (and add in sc/etc)

[20:33] Ryan McLinko: but not sure there is much we need to say about that; I'll just shoot him an email about that
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: on another note: exec board positions
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: we are missng some positions, like secretary
[20:33] Ryan McLinko: (I thought we fixed this a year ago, but either the change was lost somewhere or we somehow missed it)
[20:34] Grant Atkinson: yeah
[20:34] Grant Atkinson: the positions page should be updated to account for that
[20:34] Ryan McLinko: grant, since you're compiling a description on secretary, can you take care of that
[20:34] Grant Atkinson: alright
[20:34] Ryan McLinko: I would like to open the floor for any discussion as to what secretary job should entail
[20:34] Basant Sagar: coming to the meeting
[20:35] Grant Atkinson: something beyond just "posting transcripts" would be nice
[20:35] Ryan McLinko: other than taking minutes and posting them and the szript
[20:35] Ryan McLinko: *xscript
[20:35] Basant Sagar: maybe, starting chatrooms beforehand
[20:35] Rick Hanton: That would make sense.
[20:35] Basant Sagar: that should be the secy's job
[20:35] Ryan McLinko: sounds logical
[20:36] Rick Hanton: What about also managing the keeping of some SEDS history material on the Wiki?
[20:36] Grant Atkinson: would be a change from how we do it now but could work
[20:36] Grant Atkinson: ok
[20:36] Grant Atkinson: makes sense
[20:36] Ryan McLinko: yes, rick: that would be good too
[20:36] Ryan McLinko: did you have anything particular in mind
[20:37] Rick Hanton: I don't know, but I just stumbled across the SEDS history project a while back and then vigorously spent a night updating it like crazy.
[20:37] Rick Hanton: Because it hadn't been updated in a couple years.
[20:37] Rick Hanton: (Used that info to update the wikipedia article.)
[20:38] Grant Atkinson: nice
[20:38] Grant Atkinson: seems like a good task for the secretary
[20:38] Grant Atkinson: to keep things up to date
[20:38] Ryan McLinko: indeed
[20:38] Basant Sagar: hey, can we have the names of present exec board on the wikipedia SEDS article
[20:39] Rick Hanton: sure
[20:39] Ryan McLinko: we still keep a history of the past boards on the seds wiki, right?
[20:39] Rick Hanton: I tried to keep it nation-neutral though.
[20:39] Grant Atkinson: not like ikipedia will stop us

[20:41] Ryan McLinko: also, noticed that webmaster is missing
[20:41] Ryan McLinko: josh, can you put in a little description for that
[20:41] Ryan McLinko: any other items that people wanted to bring up for discussion about the constitution or bylaws at this time

[20:44] Grant Atkinson: do we still want to do a coaching meeting before the show?

[20:45] Rick Hanton: wasnt that kinda between you and Josh?
[20:45] Grant Atkinson: ok

[20:45] Rick Hanton: Which it probably should be, as Josh has a decent amount of experience with that sort of thing and knowledge of SEDS.

[20:46] Ryan McLinko: ok, let any other person know if you'd like input from them
[20:46] Grant Atkinson: he's been the evangilizer-in-chief for a while now
[20:46] Ryan McLinko: but otherwise, you two can handle it
