[20:04] Joshua Nelson: First up Rick wanted to discuss changing the meeting day

[20:04] Rick Hanton: Well, first off thank you to the two people who submitted a quick report.
[20:04] Rick Hanton: That's helpful.
[20:05] Rick Hanton: Anyways, I had wanted to discuss a possible day-of-the-week change for meetings.
[20:05] Rick Hanton: But, it seems that with Matt (who's not here right now)'s NASA schedule, moving to Tuesdays would be an issue.
[20:06] Rick Hanton: Is Tuesday, same time, an issue for other people as well?
[20:06] Grant Atkinson: it's fine with me
[20:06] Josh Sosa: works
[20:06] Justin Graves: fine here
[20:06] Basant Sagar: fine
[20:06] Rick Hanton: hmm, well (not that it seems like Monday is working perfectly for him) I think I will decide not to press the issue
[20:06] Rick Hanton: for Matt's sake
[20:07] Rick Hanton: I should be able to come up with a solution that works for me
[20:07] Rick Hanton: Otherwise I'll miss my other thing, which isn't a big deal, so don't sweat it.

[20:08] Joshua Nelson: On the impeachment issue, I have called Zeke 4 times, emailed him, and facebook messaged him. No response
[20:08] Rick Hanton: hmm
[20:08] Josh Sosa: interesting
[20:08] Rick Hanton: Is he dead?
[20:08] Joshua Nelson: The phone calls go directly to voice mail
[20:08] Joshua Nelson: well he's logging in to facebook
[20:08] Joshua Nelson: so he can't be dead
[20:09] Grant Atkinson: maybe he's trying to avoid us for some reason?
[20:09] Joshua Nelson: might just have his phone off and not check his gmail account
[20:09] Joshua Nelson: given it is not a huge issue, I'd like to give him one more week to respond to my messages
[20:09] Joshua Nelson: just in case he is on vacation or something.
[20:09] Joshua Nelson: Anyone have an issue with that?
[20:09] Rick Hanton: nope
[20:09] Grant Atkinson: no problem here

[20:10] Joshua Nelson: Rockoon meeting recap and update
[20:10] Joshua Nelson: Basant? Want to tell us what was discussed/decided at the Rockoon meeting, and work so far?
[20:10] Basant Sagar: okay
[20:11] Basant Sagar: I had a meeting with interested members of the exec board last tuesday
[20:11] Basant Sagar: to brainstorm about the rockoon contest
[20:11] Basant Sagar: the key outcomes of the meeting
[20:12] Basant Sagar: The Rockoon contest is on and we plan to organize it spring/summer '10
[20:12] Basant Sagar: in order to giver the participating teams enough time to prepare
[20:12] Basant Sagar: The most probable site is Black Rock in Nevada
[20:13] Basant Sagar: and we are in talks with Stratofox to help us with logistics
[20:13] Basant Sagar: I'm right now working on getting sponsors
[20:14] Rick Hanton: Any luck?
[20:14] Basant Sagar: our target budget is 10k+
[20:14] Joshua Nelson: Note that you really don't need that much to host the competition
[20:14] Joshua Nelson: thats just an ideal
[20:14] Basant Sagar: yeah, we are shooting a bit higher, just in case
[20:15] Basant Sagar: i haven't actually sent out the emails yet
[20:15] Basant Sagar: want everything to be perfect :P
[20:15] Joshua Nelson: do you have an ETA?
[20:15] Basant Sagar: ETA

[20:22] Joshua Nelson: anyway, do I have a volunteer to be the executive board rep for the next CoC?
[20:22] Basant Sagar: when is the next coc
[20:22] Rick Hanton: yeah, when?
[20:23] Joshua Nelson: I don't have the date on hand
[20:23] Keri Hancock: sure
[20:23] Rick Hanton: Grant left the chat.
[20:23] Joshua Nelson: weird still shows him in on mine
[20:24] Joshua Nelson: K, thanks for volunteering Keri
[20:24] Joshua Nelson: I'll get you the date of next CoC when grant wakes up

[20:24] Joshua Nelson: remember that we need to type up the executive board decisions 2 days before the meeting
[20:25] Joshua Nelson: Next: One of the CoC items was for the Executive Board to come up with a plan for the implementation of regional coordinators of SEDS USA
[20:25] Grant Atkinson: btw, the next CoC will be Wednesday, June 24
[20:26] Rick Hanton: Are there stated regions anywhere?
[20:26] Joshua Nelson: Dan Pastuf has already been working on a plan, and has gotten quite far with it... I'd recommend that we ask him to present it to us next week if possible.
[20:26] Joshua Nelson: Yes in the constitution
[20:26] Joshua Nelson: Opinions? Discussion?
[20:26] Rick Hanton: Do you have more info on the areas Josh?
[20:26] Rick Hanton: just out of curiosity
[20:26] Grant Atkinson: has anyone else expressed interest in working on a plan?
[20:27] Joshua Nelson: basically the regional coordinators would be an elected position in each region
[20:27] Rick Hanton: Elected by those chapters?
[20:27] Joshua Nelson: to help coordinate regional conferences, the chapters working together, and to help the director of chapter expansion work in the area
[20:27] Joshua Nelson: yeah
[20:27] Rick Hanton: It looks like Dan is on if you want to invite him.
[20:28] Joshua Nelson: Could you drop him an invite? I'm not seeing him as on... AIM seems to be hating on me tonight.
[20:30] Rick Hanton: He hasn't responded yet.
[20:30] Joshua Nelson: Ok..

[20:31] Joshua Nelson: Next up, Rick wanted to give us an update on how he has been doing with Expansion
[20:31] Joshua Nelson: Rick?
[20:32] Rick Hanton: Ok, quick expansion update.
[20:32] Rick Hanton: I've been working on ramping up expansion while I have the time this summer/fall.
[20:32] Rick Hanton: So my first objective has been to try and use any interested space-grants to help push some SEDS info out to state universities.
[20:32] Rick Hanton: That has worked ok. About half of the 10+ space grants I have contacted have been helpful, and others have not responded or been less helpful.
[20:32] Rick Hanton: I will be working on sending out more info in Washington and Wyoming and I believe that Keri and Matt are working on stuff at Alabama-Huntsville (where their space grant is BTW, so help is appreciated)
[20:32] Rick Hanton: Other than that, I have also contacted rocketry clubs at the University of Minnesota as well as the University of Texas.
[20:33] Rick Hanton: I have also contacted groups at Northwestern University, Brown University (again) and Johns Hopkins. The Texas group was the most responsive so far and seem very highly motivated.
[20:33] Rick Hanton: If you have any good ideas on expansion let me have them. I am always looking for interesting new things to try.
[20:33] Rick Hanton: Any thoughts, suggestions ideas?
[20:33] Keri Hancock: With the rocketry clubs I would really push our rockoon competition now that it is going
[20:34] Rick Hanton: The firmer the dates and locations are, the better.
[20:34] Joshua Nelson: yeah
[20:34] Joshua Nelson: don't push the rockoon competition
[20:34] Joshua Nelson: until we HAVE a rockoon competition
[20:34] Joshua Nelson: right now we don't
[20:34] Joshua Nelson: we have an idea
[20:35] Rick Hanton: Oh yeah, also in addition in my capacity as quasi-secretary I have been doing some updating of SEDS history on the wiki.
[20:35] Rick Hanton: Big thanks to Ryan for keeping a huge cache of stuff from past spacevisions.
[20:35] Rick Hanton: (It was like a gig of stuff)
[20:35] Josh Sosa: seriously
[20:36] Rick Hanton: Anyhow, so yeah check that out if it suits your fancy.

[20:37] Grant Atkinson: i do occasionally
[20:38] Rick Hanton: I just wanted to mention that I proposed to Josh that we possibly partner with them in the future somehow.
[20:38] Keri Hancock: not really
[20:38] Rick Hanton: It's pretty cool if you haven't seen it.
[20:38] Keri Hancock: with the podcasts?
[20:38] Rick Hanton: Anyhow, we may tenatively do that in the future. Just a head's up.
[20:38] Joshua Nelson: The Space Vision crew is considering having them at Space Vision. I wanted to hold off on an MOU though until we actually prove that we can benefit them and vice versa
[20:38] Grant Atkinson: partner how so?
[20:39] Grant Atkinson: ah
[20:39] Grant Atkinson: nice
[20:39] Rick Hanton: Maybe not even have them there if that's not possible.
[20:39] Rick Hanton: But at least partner to broadcast out video from SpaceVision.
[20:39] Joshua Nelson: Yeah. There are lots of possible ways we can work together
[20:39] Grant Atkinson: it would be a good way to raise SpaceVision's profile if possible
[20:39] Joshua Nelson: *nods*
[20:40] Rick Hanton: Also, I was thinking, I could probably get someone from SEDS in to talk via skype on a show sometime if someone feels interested and wants the pressure.
[20:40] Rick Hanton: The last show had about 100 people watching live.
[20:40] Rick Hanton: So, a quasi good free advertisement about SEDS.
[20:40] Grant Atkinson: i'd be up for that
[20:40] Joshua Nelson: *nods*
[20:40] Joshua Nelson: oh if we get any SEDS member on there
[20:40] Joshua Nelson: be sure to get a recording
[20:40] Joshua Nelson: and photos if possible ;-)
[20:41] Joshua Nelson: we had some SEDS members on the shuttle feed
[20:41] Rick Hanton: Yeah, they keep everything recorded in like three places, so I wouldn't worry.
[20:41] Joshua Nelson: but no one thought to record it or take photos ;-)
[20:41] Rick Hanton: Well, if you're interested chat w/me later.

[20:43] Rick Hanton: Grant's working on the new list, Grant?
[20:43] Josh Sosa: I think that's taken from the seds.org site, so that'll need to be updated
[20:44] Joshua Nelson: Josh, could we get the Google Map of SEDS chapters put on the website? Perhaps as a link off of the chapters list?
[20:44] Josh Sosa: sure
[20:44] Joshua Nelson: And I've gotten some complaints about the chapters list, we might want to make the chapters list page a bit simpler
[20:44] Rick Hanton: Is it un-broken?
[20:44] Rick Hanton: (both those last 2 things)
[20:44] Josh Sosa: they've been changing a bunch of permissions on the server
[20:44] Josh Sosa: I'll go ahead and make that thing simpler then
[20:45] Grant Atkinson: i know we worked on a google map of the SEDS chapters earlier this year
[20:45] Grant Atkinson: i can dig up the work that was done on that
[20:45] Joshua Nelson: it still exists
[20:45] Joshua Nelson: just need to link it
[20:45] Grant Atkinson: ok
[20:45] Rick Hanton: Is it still not zoomed out though?
[20:45] Joshua Nelson: on my computer it is zoomed out
[20:45] Rick Hanton: I know it was having a issue, but maybe that was a google-wide glitch.
