[17:31] Joshua Nelson: 4) Nova
[17:31] Joshua Nelson: 5) CoC recap
[17:31] Joshua Nelson: First up, ISDC. Ryan, anything of note change since last we met?
[17:31] Ryan McLinko: not really
[17:32] Ryan McLinko: there were a few issues that came up, but they were resolved
[17:32] Joshua Nelson: How many people do we estimate will be showing?
[17:32] Joshua Nelson: (UofA has a final number of 2 people)
[17:32] Matt Cannella: UB has at least 3, with possibility of 5
[17:32] Ryan McLinko: 45ish maybe?
[17:32] Ryan McLinko: a lot from ERF and UCF
[17:32] Rick Hanton: ISU didn't get money to send people (not much interest either).
[17:33] Grant Atkinson: i'll probably be the only one from Texas A&M
[17:33] Keri Bean: Brian's coming too
[17:33] Ryan McLinko: and I've heard from A&M, BU, MIT also
[17:33] Joshua Nelson: UofA is officially only 2 people
[17:33] Ryan McLinko: besides those who have already mentioned
[17:33] Matt Cannella: BU is bringing 6
[17:33] Joshua Nelson: We are bringing another run of SEDS shot glasses with us though
[17:33] Joshua Nelson:
[17:33] Ryan McLinko: one of the big questions was how many from ERF and UCF
[17:33] Ryan McLinko: I feel like the numbers I've been getting are optimistic
[17:34] Matt Cannella: oh yea...
[17:34] Ryan McLinko: how is seds house coming?
[17:34] Matt Cannella: done
[17:35] Matt Cannella: and excellent
[17:35] Joshua Nelson: Final numbers/cost?
[17:35] Matt Cannella: we have 12 people (with one more possibly)
[17:35] Matt Cannella: at a cost of $100 a person
[17:35] Matt Cannella: ($100 and change actually)
[17:36] Rick Hanton:
[17:36] Matt Cannella: and we have 2 cars set up, and will probably rent one more
[17:36] Joshua Nelson: That including Kyle's car?
[17:36] Matt Cannella: kyle?
[17:37] Joshua Nelson: Kyle Stephens, UofA SEDS
[17:37] Matt Cannella: oh.... no. he isnt definite yet
[17:37] Joshua Nelson: k
[17:37] Matt Cannella: but if he comes, that makes things easier (he is the maybe)
[17:37] Joshua Nelson: k
[17:38] Matt Cannella: besides that, we're golden
[17:38] Joshua Nelson: Sounds good.
[17:38] Ryan McLinko: so, nothing else of significant note for isdc on my end
[17:38] Joshua Nelson: Next week we'll go through everyone one last time in detail
[17:38] Joshua Nelson: make sure we know who's handling what
[17:38] Ryan McLinko: currently looking into student panels
[17:38] Joshua Nelson: and bringing what
[17:38] Matt Cannella: kk
[17:38] Ryan McLinko: rather student sessions with speakers
[17:38] Joshua Nelson: Ah yes, werent we supposed to vote on those?
[17:38] Joshua Nelson: this meeting? (or last really)
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: adn putting together the student funding panel
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: so...apparently we have to handle it
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: so I gave my-linh some names
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: and she will get me contact info
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: so once I get those
[17:39] Joshua Nelson: k
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: then I will let you guys know and we can see who is of best interest to you before I contact
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: actuall
[17:39] Ryan McLinko: let me bring up what I sent her
[17:40] Ryan McLinko: buzz, anderson, whitehorn, lindenmoyer, cook
[17:40] Ryan McLinko: I tried to get a good spread of contacts
[17:41] Joshua Nelson: *nods*
[17:41] Ryan McLinko: so maybe it would be best to get an idea from you guys now as to which two I should try first
[17:41] Ryan McLinko: thoughts?
[17:41] Joshua Nelson: Anderson is Eric Anderson?
[17:41] Ryan McLinko: yes
[17:41] Basant Sagar: has joined the chat
[17:42] Grant Atkinson: i'd vote for buzz and whitehorn, they'd be the two i'd be most interested in hearing from
[17:42] Joshua Nelson: Lindenmoyer would be good as well
[17:42] Rick Hanton: Yeah, buzz and anderson
[17:43] Joshua Nelson: Ok, lets do this logically
[17:43] Joshua Nelson: Everyone post their first and second choice
[17:43] Joshua Nelson: we'll tally them and ask in order of choice
[17:43] Basant Sagar: buzz and eric anderson
[17:43] Keri Bean: I'll abstain since I can't go
[17:43] Grant Atkinson: buzz and whitehorn
[17:43] Ryan McLinko: anderson, whitehorn
[17:44] Rick Hanton: buzz and anderson
[17:44] Justin Graves: buzz, anderson
[17:44] Joshua Nelson: Lindenmoyer Whitehorn
[17:44] Matt Cannella: buzz and lindenmoyer
[17:44] Keri Hancock: abstain
[17:44] Ryan McLinko: looks like buzz, anderson?
[17:45] Basant Sagar: yup
[17:45] Ryan McLinko: ok, once I get contacts, I'll give them a shot
[17:45] Joshua Nelson: Tally is.... Buzz 4, Anderson, Whitehorn, Lindenmoyer
[17:45] Joshua Nelson: k
[17:45] Ryan McLinko: (granted I already have buzz's, but I'll see if they want me to use something else)
[17:45] Ryan McLinko: ok, that's all I have for isdc
[17:46] Joshua Nelson: sounds good.
[17:46] Joshua Nelson: Up next
[17:46] Joshua Nelson: %01c3 Endowment
[17:46] Joshua Nelson: Talked to Ryan Goodnight
[17:47] Joshua Nelson: We've been on hold for the big 501c3 / Endowment conference call because aparently the Secretary of State of Texas takes forever to respond/fill out paperwork
[17:47] Matt Cannella: kk
[17:47] Joshua Nelson: we're waiting on them before the endowment side of the 501c3 goes further
[17:48] Keri Bean: I'm sorry my state is slow
[17:48] Joshua Nelson: I'm going to try and type up a 'intro to 501c3' and a SEDS procedure guide for using it
[17:48] Joshua Nelson: will try to get that out to you guys to review next week
[17:48] Joshua Nelson: and then distribute to chapters at ISDC
[17:49] Joshua Nelson: Next up: Annual Survey of Chapters
[17:49] Matt Cannella: josh, can i get a copy of that as soon as you write it josh?
[17:49] Matt Cannella: whenever its done, i'll put it in the next NOVA
[17:49] Joshua Nelson: Yes
[17:49] Joshua Nelson: (might be a few days because I've barely started drafting it)
[17:49] Joshua Nelson: Last year we sent out a survey to all chapters
[17:49] Joshua Nelson: which went extremely well
[17:50] Joshua Nelson: What do you guys think would be the best timeline to be sending out the survey this year?
[17:50] Joshua Nelson: for 2008-2009?
[17:50] Grant Atkinson: probably asap
[17:50] Grant Atkinson: since people will be dispersing for summer very shortly
[17:51] Joshua Nelson: Just send it out now, and give them till august to fill it out before getting on their backs?
[17:51] Matt Cannella: i agree
[17:51] Rick Hanton: While people are on break is not a bad time.
[17:51] Keri Hancock: sounds good Josh
[17:51] Matt Cannella: but remind them throughout the summer
[17:51] Grant Atkinson: i agree with josh
[17:51] Joshua Nelson: That'll be Grant's job
[17:51] Matt Cannella: like, send out an email in the beginning of august
[17:51] Grant Atkinson: i can send out reminders periodically
[17:51] Matt Cannella: sounds good
[17:51] Joshua Nelson: I'll write up the survey, and will give it to Grant to shove down their throats
[17:51] Grant Atkinson: and then get mean to people when they inevitably don't send anything
[17:52] Joshua Nelson: ooooo
[17:52] Joshua Nelson: and I thought Keri was teh dangerous one
[17:52] Joshua Nelson: Ok
[17:52] Keri Bean: rawr!
[17:52] Joshua Nelson: Nova, Matt? (And yes I owe you a letter from the chair)
[17:54] Matt Cannella: um
[17:54] Matt Cannella: things are going well
[17:54] Matt Cannella: we have a new alumni apotlight that i'm waiting to get a response from
[17:54] Rick Hanton: who?
[17:54] Matt Cannella: and after that its just a few more things... i did want to ask for opinion of the board on chapter updates
[17:55] Matt Cannella: John Gedmark
[17:55] Matt Cannella: old pres of Purdue SEDS, and executive director of personal spaceflight federation
[17:55] Joshua Nelson: (good choice)
[17:55] Matt Cannella: but anywho, what should i do for chapters that don't have updates on their sites? maybe only include those that do?
[17:56] Joshua Nelson: (personally restarted Princeton SEDS)
[17:56] Ryan McLinko: include only those that do
[17:56] Joshua Nelson: Matt - Ask!
[17:56] Matt Cannella: ok... sounds good
[17:56] Ryan McLinko: would help to keep things fresher
[17:56] Ryan McLinko: then it's more of a "spotlight"
[17:56] Matt Cannella: good point
[17:56] Joshua Nelson: Feel free to bug the chapters
[17:56] Joshua Nelson: saying "Hey anything new going on?"
[17:56] Rick Hanton: We could ask for a new round of end-of-semester updates?/
[17:56] Matt Cannella: i'm going home on wednesday, so i should start having more time to work on it
[17:57] Matt Cannella: and we are still shooting for a publish date of may 20th
[17:57] Matt Cannella: ish
[17:58] Joshua Nelson: Be nice if we could get it then
[17:58] Joshua Nelson: so I can print off copies in B/W to put on the SEDS table at ISDC
[17:58] Keri Bean: hey, do you want to include a little note on Phoenix, since her anniversary is May 25th?
[17:59] Matt Cannella: i would love that... want to write up a short blurb for it?
[17:59] Matt Cannella: literally a paragraph and a picture is fine
[17:59] Keri Bean: sure
[18:00] Joshua Nelson: K
[18:00] Matt Cannella: thanks! try to get it to me by next week
[18:00] Matt Cannella: k, thats all for nova
[18:00] Joshua Nelson: Last up, CoC wrap up
[18:00] Joshua Nelson: Grant, Keri?
[18:00] Grant Atkinson: a couple of items of interest from the last CoC:
[18:00] Grant Atkinson: the chapter reps approved having an in-person CoC at ISDC
[18:01] Grant Atkinson: the chapter dues policy change was struck down, so the policy will remain as before
[18:01] Grant Atkinson: and we continued to discuss the IYA outreach ideas that were brought up at the last exec board meeting
[18:01] Grant Atkinson: this in addition to an exec board update and ISDC update
[18:02] Grant Atkinson: any questions/comments regarding it?
[18:03] Rick Hanton: The minutes are now online as of today from that CoC
[18:04] Joshua Nelson: Given the next one is an in person meeting, I'll be volunteering to rep the Executive Board.
[18:04] Joshua Nelson: One main item I would like to propose for the meeting: How to improve CoC
[18:04] Keri Hancock: Awesome!
[18:04] Joshua Nelson: where the body should go, what chapters want to get out of it, etc..
[18:04] Rick Hanton: I like it.
[18:04] Grant Atkinson: good idea
[18:04] Grant Atkinson: it's the ideal kind of topic to discuss in person
[18:05] Rick Hanton: Direction for the board and org is a good thing.
[18:05] Grant Atkinson: indeed
[18:05] Keri Hancock: yep, and they'll be all swept up in an awesome space conference when you do this, so you'll get more enthusiasm and brainstorming
[18:05] Joshua Nelson: Any other proposed item for in person discussion?
[18:06] Keri Hancock: nope
[18:06] Grant Atkinson: related to this
[18:06] Rick Hanton: Ideas for reaching out to new groups of people?
[18:06] Grant Atkinson: we need to figure out when/where the in person CoC will be held
[18:07] Joshua Nelson: Thought My Linh put in a request for the room
[18:07] Joshua Nelson: Will double check with her
[18:07] Grant Atkinson: alright
[18:07] Ryan McLinko: they are working on it last I checked
[18:07] Grant Atkinson: can you have her email me whatever she finds out?
[18:07] Joshua Nelson: Allright, any further items for today?
[18:07] Ryan McLinko: (I asked her about it yesterday)
[18:09] Joshua Nelson: If not, meeting adjourned
