The Iowa State Space Society's Level 3 Rocket project was done as part of a high power competition between our group at Iowa State and a rocketry group at the University of Missouri Rolla (see http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/Rocket_competition).

The project is a dart-booster combination designed to use a large motor (N-class) to boost the dart as high as possible. Our computer models predict that the dart could travel up to 30,000 feet or higher if all goes well (we will be adding weight to stay under our 25,000 ft. launch ceiling).

The rocket was designed and constructed completely by Iowa State Students and is made almost entirely of fiberglass with carbon fiber on the fins of the booster and dart. The nosecone, designed by Shane Brucker, is made of a temperature-resistant aluminum alloy.

The Iowa State Space Society is planning to launch their dart project at Midwest Power 2007, which runs October 26-28 outside of Princeton, IL.
