Login to SEDS server
From SEDSWiki
PC: SSH
1) Download SSH
First, you will need to download a copy of SSH. The last free version of SSH is version 3.2.9 (a copy form University of Hawaii is available here.
2) Login
When you open SSH File Transfer Client, it should look similar to this:
Hit the "Quick Connect" button (circled below), type in "seds.org" (where is says "mach.ae.uiuc.edu" in the image) in the host name and use your netid as the user name.
After entering your password, you are taken to your home folder on the AE server. To modify the ISS files, you are going to have to switch to the desired folder. For instance, to go to the SEDS-Earth folder (only if you have access), you would type "/web/seds/earth/html" in the pull-down menu circled below. To make it easier, hit the "Add" button after entering the folder name. This will save the folder name so that you can select it from the pull-down menu and not have to type it again.
You can't modify files directly from SSH File Transfer Client (though you can do it in the accompanying SSH Secure Shell, which is UNIX based). You will have to download them to your computer first, modify them, and upload them back to your folder. This is easy. The pane on the right is the server. The pane on the left is your computer. Drag the file you want to modify from a folder on one pane to a folder on the other.
PC: PuTTY
Mac:
An SSH client is built into Mac OS X. Go to Applications->Utilities and open the "Terminal" program. This will open a new command-line window. At this point, simply type ssh username@seds.org (where username is your seds.org username). You may receive a message about accepting the identity of the remote server, answer yes to this question. Enter your password, and you're logged into SEDS.
You can also mount SEDS as a folder. From the finder select Go->Connect to Server (or Command-K), and type in seds.org. Enter the username and password, and select the /web folder to get to your web pages.
