National Projects: SEDS Art Contest

Here I am posting the notes we recorded at Space Vision 2006 in relation to the SEDS Art Contest, and developing a list of action items that need to be taken. Action Items:

To do within next 1-2 months: Finance Proposal to various sources (to be written by Josh over Thanksgiving weekend at Boston Market) Distribute Finance Proposal Publicity

SEDS Space Vision 2007 arrangements at MIT (Darrell / Ryan handling)
- Gallery booking - Award ceremony
Submission guidelines:
- Must be submitted digitally on seds.org by October (9-12thish) - 300 dpi minimum resolution - Artist pays for shipping if selected for display at Space Vision 2007 - Open to currently enrolled High School, College, and Graduate School students. - 1 Submission per person. - All subject matter of PG rating or less. - Item submitted must be a unique piece of artwork specifcally created for the SEDS Art contest. - Original artwork remains property of artist, SEDS-USA and its affiliates retain rights to the image for any future promotions / publications in support of SEDS, its affiliated organizations, or its mission of promoting the exploration and development of space.
October -> Conference:
- Prizes: - Grand Prize: $3,000.00 - Second Prize: $1,000.00 - Runners Up: $250.00 - Items of a certain rank or higher get display privledges at Space Vision 2007 at MIT, duration of display and number of pieces to be displayed to be decided. - Top few percent will be displayed at MIT for general display / purchase at the conference (if the artist consents). - Artist is responsible for all logistics in shipping artwork to and from MIT for display, and all costs associated with said transfer. - Contest winners to be selected by a board of members consisting of Space leaders, SEDS Alumni, and Professionals both in the Space and Art community. Winners will be judged on a number of criteria to be decided by the project organizers, but keyly for the inspirational value of the piece.
