UofA SEDS has fundraised $6,000.00 of the $6,000.00 they needed to fly.

UofW SEDS has fundraised $14,500.00 of the $14,500.00 they needed to fly.

Time to roll up the sleeves Nationally!

Use of SEDS-ZeroG Wiki

This Wiki is to be used to record what SEDS chapters/members have approached what companies for funds for our Zero-G Project.

When posting a company you have approached for funds, use the following format:

Company/Organization/Individual Name, Chapter/Person contacting Summary: Date/form of contact, brief summary, Response? (Yes!/No!/Pending), (If response yes, list amount pledged)

Example: Raytheon Corp.: Joshua V. Nelson, Summary: E-mailed via contact through Lunar and Planetary Lab to establish date/time to call/meet in person to discuss possibility of funding. (03/20/06) Response that it would have been better to contact them a year ahead of time, but they are willing to see what they can do. Request for timeline of funding/amount needed total. I responded that we are looking for $81k total by approximatly a month before our late July flight date, but that every contribution would help. Pending

And if possible, lets try to keep them in alphabetical order! :-)

Companies contacted

Aerojet: SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/27/06) They were very enthusiastic to support such a project (should have asked for more money...). As it was, they're supporting us with $2,000. Yes!

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) : SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/23/06) Contacted old friend in AIAA, set up some meetings, and got $500 from Pacific Northwest AIAA chapter and $1,500 from the National AIAA. Yes!

Bank of America: Joshua V. Nelson, Summary: (03/23/06) Checked their webpage for philantropy guidelines. They require 501c status to be considered for funding. Philantropy consideration is done via an online form. Cases seem to be considered via on a state-by-state basis with different states having different focuses. We might want to apply via Boston (since MIT SEDS is our 'home' chapter) and Boston has a focus of "transition from school to career", which SEDS definetly contributes to. Will talk to John during Tuesday's Exec meeting about 501c status. Pending

Bank of America: SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/27/06) Filled out online grant application for SEDS-UW. Submitted form on December 31st, but no response back yet. Pending/No

Boeing, Seattle: SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/27/06) Submitted long and arduous form for SEDS-UW in early January. The form got transmitted to Washington DC area because that's the location of our 501c3 supporter (the Space Generation Advisory Council). I contacted Dale Rainville, who had it sent back to Seattle. Pending, with our current Boeing contact being Anne Suyama. Asked for $5,000. Pending

Boeing Corporate: Joshua V. Nelson, Summary: (03/24/06) Attempted to call Corporate office, all lines busy. Will try again Monday. Pending

Costco: SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/27/06) Contacted Muriel Cooper at Costco in late 2005. They don't fund projects like this. They mainly support United Way and Children's Hospitals. No

Kroger: SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/27/06) Sent out grant application early February. Pending

Washington NASA Space Grant: SEDS-UW, Summary: (03/27/06) At least the educational side of NASA isn't stingy (we had a co-op ask NASA for money to fly, and he was told 'no' because Zero-G is a competitor). They're fronting $1,500. Yes!
