Participants:
- Tom Nordheim, UKSEDS
- Kirk Kittell, SEDS-USA alumnus
- Lavina Parwani, PhilSEDS
- Geoff Hilton, SEDS-Canada
- Amrut Yalagi, The Planetary Society of Youth, India
- Jay, Germany
Jay from Germany has joined the project group.
Payload discussion:
What kind of wavelengths do we want to obeserve, are there any specific phenomena which we want to observe?
Observing algae using specific wavelengths.(These are in the range if commercial imagers, ex: kodak CMOS)
“Fast light”: Researcher at the University of Rochester has made light move backwards due to faster-than-light travel in vacuum. Possibility of continuing research in a space-based experiment?
- Powerbeaming:
Using laser beams to recharge satellite(?). Will possibly shorten the lifespan of the cube, Jay will look into this and provide more information.
Open tasks:
- Collect subsystems information from current/previous CubeSats and post at SEDSAT-2 Research.
- Subsystem leads will continue research for the various subsystems, and are to give a short 5min presentation of their finding at the next meeting
Some of the topics to be researched further:
- Powerbeaming
- Imaging of algae from space
- Fast light experiment
Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be held on Sunday, 17 December at 14:00GMT. (to convert 14:00GMT to your favorite time zone: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=12&day=10&year=2006&hour=14&min=0&sec=0&p1=0)
- Start work on mission feasability study
- Subsystem leads will present their research for the feasability study,
