- The purpose of SEDS-Earth is to encourage communication between the national organizations of SEDS.
- National organizations of SEDS are not bound by the rules of SEDS-Earth; they are independent entities.
- The SEDS-Earth council shall consist of three members.
- Each member must be a member in good standing of their respective national organization.
- Each member must be from a different national organization.
- The term of a council member shall be six months.
- The terms shall be divided as follows: (1) 1 April to 30 September; (2) 1 October to 31 March.
- The second term shall begin at the annual SEDS International Conference; both terms will be flexible to accommodate this.
- Only full time high school or university students are eligible to be council members.
- Council members may serve unlimited terms (as long as they are a student) but may only serve three consecutive terms at a time.
- All SEDS members in good standing shall be eligible to participate on and vote for the council.
- For term one:
- Nominations for positions will be open from 4 to 17 March.
- Members shall nominate themselves by sending an email to the SEDS-Earth email list.
- Elections for positions will be open from 18 to 31 March.
- For term two, nominations and elections will be held at the SEDS International Conference.
