Suggestions from Kirk

  • Include "join SEDS-Announce email list" text box -- a la the one on right side of http://earth.seds.org -- so that it appears on every page, say on the left sidebar or on the top bar (where today's date is located).
  • Donations page
    • Can you use the main office for mailed-in donations? Something about sending it to a random guy in an apartment seems a little sketchy...
    • Include a wish list for physical items that can be donated (say, cameras for taking video of the conference)
    • Better explain how the money is used. Explain how X% of the money goes to Y (and mention that you have basically no overhead costs so all money goes to functional things). Give a better why someone should donate to these things.
    • Check this page with the Alumni Board -- they are very representative of the people who would donate.

Possible external tools you can use:

  • LinkedIn - Good for sharing professional information, and linking current members to past members for jobs.
  • Facebook - Link to an "official" SEDS group on Facebook from seds.org -- could be the best way to create some kind of community.
  • Plaxo - Not exactly sure how/if you'd tie this in, but it's very useful for keeping your contact info up-to-date.

Regarding Plaxo

Having a general plaxo a/c so that SEDS Chairs can get an updated address book without having to re-build the address book again and again. So, have one address book which executive committee has access to.

Donations

Perhaps a section added on how previous donations were used can also be added to this page. Also, maybe, it needs to tell the person how this donation will help build a resource useful in the future as well.
