Probably flying into Hyderabad is best...

Here is a map of major Indian airports; Hyderabad is in the south center, east of Mumbai and north of Chennai. The major airports that you can fly to from the US are Mumbai, New Delhi, and Calcutta, maybe also Chennai, and then connect to Hyderabad. The airport in Hyderabad is really the only airport within a few hundred kilometers.

I listed other airports in the DC section 'cos I may fly into Bangalore or Calcutta in advance or after the event in Hyderabad and visit friends. If I'm flying to India, I want to make a two- or three-week trip out of the deal.

And one more thing -- I was going to suggest that if you come (I'm scheming somehow to bring you, by force if necessary ;) ), you could make a vacation out of the trip and go to Goa and relax on the beach with your wife as Phoenix cruises.
