Jim Volp has for more than 5 years been the most active person of Space Generation.
His contributions have been as follows:
- Dutch National Point of Contact -> European Co-ordinator -> co-Chair of Space Generation
- Assistant to the UN Action Team 17 on Capacity Building (Edu),
- Point of contact to UNESCO Space Education Programme,
- Space Generation Congress Event Manager in 2003 in Bremen,
- Mastermind of interconnecting Yuri's Night parties with webcams back in 2002,
- Member of webteam (which only consisted of 2 people only for many years),
Jim organised the:
- First ESA Student Outreach Programme to the IAF back in 1999 in Amsterdam,
- First MOONMARS workshop in 2002 in Bremen,
- First Lunar Base Design Workshop in 2002 in Noordwijk
- First IAF Young Professionals Programme in 2006 in Valencia,
Jim attended many interesting meetings (mostly on Space Education).

- UN/IAF Workshop on the Use of Space Technology for Sustainable Development Towards Food Security
- UN/IAF Workshop on Space Education and Capacity-Building for Sustainable Development
- UNESCO/IAF/IAA/ISU Expert meeting on Space Education
- UNESCO Space Education Programme (SEP) co-ordination meeting
- UNESCO Space Education trip to Nigeria
After Space Generation he assisted Space Alumni and currently SEDS.
Jim is the Secretary of the IAF Administrative Committee on Space & Society.
He is also part of the IAF Workforce Development/Young Professionals Program Committee.
Jim has taken up the job of Director of Education Relations of World Space Week
He is currently spearheading an initiative to develop the global reach of SEDS.
Jim loves hacking on the internet searching for other Space Enthusiasts
with the ultimate goal to establish active global space peer networks.
Jim has learned a lot during his time with Space Generation.
Most valuable he finds the introduction to Dale Carnegie
amongst others famous for his book: "How to win Friends and influence people."
