The Illinois Space Society (ISS) was founded in August 2003 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by Derek Meyer and Kirk Kittell. ISS became affiliated with SEDS at the 2003 American Astronautical Society National Conference in Houston in November 2003.
