Big W Kids Shoes Recall Potentially Deadly Defect

A mandatory recall has been issued for 8 varieties of popular shoes with lights sold at Big W.

Product Safety Australia has recalled Caprice Australia's light-up thongs due to concerns that the two batteries could pose a safety hazard for young kids.

There are many design options for thongs. Some of them include Frozen, Spiderman and Star Wars. OMG and Minecraft.

Caprice Australia's light up thongs (above) have been recalled over concerns the two batteries pose a potential danger to children.

PSA said that the tiny battery compartment inside the thongs might be exposed in time and make access to the two tiny buttons more accessible to children. Lalalalal

It is stated that children can inhale the button batteries and suffer severe internal burns that could lead to serious illness or even death.

Button batteries can also be an choking risk to children.'

The thongs can be purchased online and in-store at Big W since September 7, 2020, however they've not been sold since May 11, 2022.

The thongs are available on the internet and in stores at Big W since September 7, 2020, however they haven't been sold since May 11, 2022.

Customers are urged to immediately stop using the shoes and return them to any Big W Australia store for a full refund.
