moreton bay snake catcher

1 - The safest option is to set a snake trap.

It is always advisable to hire a professional snake expert if you cannot catch it yourself.

Lastly, if you are confident the snake is non-venomous and can positively identify it, you may actually be able to grab it with thick gloves. You can put it in a pillow case and move it to another location.

The best way to catch a snake if you are not able to handle it, and cannot identify it or reach it, is to use a snake hook or snake tongs such as the one pictured below.

In general, bites occur when people try to capture or kill snakes, so you're better off if you leave them be! Traps or experienced professionals are your best options if you want it gone. If you want either, just scroll down to this page.

The mere thought that a thin, long body could suddenly submerge beneath your feet would be unnerving if you run your garden for hours in the heat of the day. In addition to liking your garden, the snake has been watching you as you remove rocks and weeds from the ground. The more often this happens, the more nervous you will be when reaching in a clump of vegetables, and eventually you may avoid your garden altogether. For someone who appreciates the fruits of his or her labor, it is a great tragedy to abandon it. Maybe, just maybe, you should try catching the snake.

Verify what kind of snake you're dealing with before you try to catch it. Snakes that are poisonous require a special touch, if not a professional one. As long as the snake does not bite, you are ready to start.

Then you have to manage to regain entry into your garden. You know this is where the snake is, so you will have to go in there to catch it. You are going to distract the snake with a long branch, yardstick, or fire poker. The focus of your tool should remain on the snake's head. With the other hand, you are going to pick up the snake's tail. Snakes should have the majority of their bodies on the ground. The tail of a snake is not the best place to pick it up! Your stick should be used to lift up the snake's head as quickly as possible. The hand holding the serpent's tail should be in one hand, and the other hand should be holding the stick holding up the snake's front. Position yourself in such a way that you can control the reptile's body without putting yourself in danger. Relocate the snake to a safe location. If the animal cannot find a safe haven nearby, consider putting it in a pillowcase and transporting it by automobile. Release the snake by gently pointing its head in the desired travel direction. If it's in a pillow case, lightly spill out the snake so that the body is partially covered. Back away from the pillowcase and leave it on the ground. If your linen is still there after the snake has slithered away, take it back.

A large trash can may be the best choice if the above method seems too direct. Put the bin on the ground and guide the snake inside with a broom. If you run into the snake, do not hit or push it; you do not want to injure it. A rubbish bin with smooth sides prevents snakes from climbing out and allows safe relocation.

A shirt and a pillowcase can be used to remove a snake that is inside the house. Over the snake, place your shirt or light blanket and scoop it up. Place the shirt and snake in the pillowcase. Place the pillowcase inside a garbage bin or a large storage container so the snake can emerge if you like. Ensure the container has an airtight lid. The snake is now ready to be transported. Is it safe to handle a snake with your bare hands?

It is safest to remove snakes using a snake trap of professional grade. Some traps are worthless, but there are a few that have been endorsed by wildlife professionals. You can remove the snake from your property using these traps without having to handle the snake itself. When you are not sure what type of snake you are dealing with, it is safest to use a hands-free method. I caught a snake. What should I do with it?

Catching a snake essentially involves three options. Please refer to my directory below for contact details of wildlife experts. The snake problem can be solved by catching and removing these snakes as well as taking other appropriate actions. You can also obtain a snake trap to catch the snake yourself. You can also seal up your house and modify your land to prevent snakes from getting inside if you don't want to figure out how to catch one.

The first option is to hire a professional

We can help you with your snake problem. Ninety-five percent of the US population is served by our snake specialists.

The second option is to purchase a snake trap

It is possible to catch a snake inside with a trap if it is indoors. An outdoor glue-based trap is inhumane, as it can catch other small animals. Several snake trap designs have been reviewed and field tested, and the one below has proven to be the most effective and durable. It is a high-quality snake trap available on the market. Snake Trap can be found here.
