Overall Importance

THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you are a leader of an organization, always have a representative at these meetings, usually scheduled once a month! Your participation is important to bring the whole SEDS community together, and making sure we are all moving together. It also plays a role on chapter grants!

Council of Chapters [CoC]

The duty of the CoC is to be aware of what is happening at the national/ international level ranging from:

  • Projects
  • Competitions
  • Scholarships
  • Sponsorships
  • Upcoming events [Students on Capitol Hill, Leadership Retreat, SpaceVision, external conferences outside of SEDS but space-affiliated]
  • Opportunities for growth and development
  • Achievements from other chapters
  • Space news

Essentially, the CoC serves as an update on the actions taken by the national board since the last meeting as well as plans for future activities. It is also where chapters can interact and get involved with SEDS-USA at the chapter level.

Information from here is received through both email as well as video chat. In order to be subscribed to the newsletters, one to two members per chapter may be subscribed to the newsletter by reaching out to the Chair of the Council of Chapters (link provided on seds.org). The video chat link is provided within the newsletter.

This video chat is a conference call via zoom. It takes place once a month on the first Saturday of each month at 4 PM EST unless otherwise noted. This is the opportunity to verbally discuss what is available/ what is happening in the upcoming months, verbally interact with other CoC representatives from other chapters, and ask any questions/ advice for next steps if you have ideas in mind. SEDS does not limit any chapter from achieving their vision and together with our 130+ chapters, we aim to create a brighter future of opportunities for the next generation of space-enthusiasts
